![]() Has anyone got any experience with this plan?
http://www.globalstareurope.com/en/content.php?cid=210 €34.99 unlimited voice and data. for calls within: Algeria Gibraltar Morocco Andorra Greenland The Netherlands Azores Iceland Norway Belgium Ireland Poland Czech Republic Jan Mayen Portugal Denmark Monaco Sweden Faeroe Islands Luxembourg Tunisia France Mauritania United Kingdom Germany It seems too good to be true for being satellite based (especially for North Africa!) It's a bit of a chore finding the info I am looking for on the site such as what does unlimited actually mean? Is that unlimited calls to landlines only in your 'home' zone? How much do calls to mobiles cost? (e.g. UK mobile) or is that included too? Also, what are the speeds like on data? |

![]() On of the problems with Globalstar is that their satellites are failing faster than originally predicted. Many users are finding it impossible to make calls and the calls are of low quality and frequently dropped. This is the reason that they are offering these too-good-to-be-true packages.

![]() Thanks. That is interesting! Desperate times for them then?
The handsets are pricey too! Can they be used elsewhere with other satellite networks if all fails with Globalstar? |

![]() GlobalStar is not working so bad. They launched last year EIGHT new first generation satelites and 5 of them are activ of the moment. In Dec. 2007 GlobalStar had a coverage of about 75- 77% throughout the day. The problem is that the S-Band-Transmitter inside the satelite is degenerating faster than excepted, so that at the end some satellites could no longer be used two-communication .
Beginning 2009 the whole constellation of 48 sats ( 40 old and 8 new ) will be replaced by new 2nd Generations satellites. frist 24 should be launched in 2009 . Meanwhile GlobalStar operates still with a couple of faulty satellites ( these missing procentage to 95-96% coverage ) . GlobalStar also offers an StarterPlan ( no monthly fee & no minimun usage ) you only have to pay an activation fee. Please feel free to contact me by mail ![]() |
