Question O2 UK prepaid-> 7937 Jersey - what rate? - 21-09-2007, 09:11

What are the rates (voice and SMS) from O2 Pay & Go?
Is it considered as "Other UK network mobiles" or "International calls from UK".
Does International Caller Bolt On matter in this case?

No good asking O2 this

On my contract O2, it's 40 pence a minute, which is my rate for UK mobiles when my minutes run out, but it doesn't come out of the inclusive minutes at all

So on payg ............ try it and see, but probably other UK mobiles, though my guess is it might be excluded from any add-on packages

I can't try it by myself. The whole thing is for my two brothers. The one works in Kent and the other just left for a week trip to Croatia with UM+. So, the conclusion might be the following. Unless stated otherwise, the rates for IoM/Channel Islands mobile numbers are the same as to off-net UK mobiles. The above excludes international discounts since those numbers are considered as national ones.
My main "fear" was that since IoM/Channel Islands are not parts of the UK, the international rate 1.50 pounds may apply and, since not listed in the International Caller Bolt-on zones, they would "fall" into "Rest of the world" zone at 1 pound/min...But I hope it isn't that bad

Anyway, thanks a lot

It should be a good guess, but none of this is clear. A while ago, I spent quite along time asking O2 and Orange CS about IoM rates, and the basic answer is ....... they don't know, or get it wrong; they have told people European rates, but I'm not aware of it ever happening

I think a good precaution would be JustVoip or DialNow callthrough - landline plus a few pence

Both IoM and Jersey numbers come from Virgin contract minutes (the only one with both), so I don't know if a switch to them and pre-paid with an add-on bundle ... ?

http://www.virginmobile.com/vm/gener...les.shop.sm034

I got a prepaid phone from Virgin with 2 months of 100 minutes thrown in at the start, and those were including IoM/Jersey, so there's a very good chance ...

I could send a free Virgin SIM with £5 on it, but actually even a £20 Nokia 1112 comes with the 2 x 100 minutes ...
