![]() If you're using IPkall as an incoming US number (perhaps to forward to voip numbers like voipcheap etc) watch out - they've made a change that makes it unusable for most purposes.
All calls to ipkall numbers are now rejected if they don't have incoming caller id information. There's no way to turn this setting off. Haven't fully tested which few cases might still work, but certainly calling my ipkall number from various global sims the calls get rejected, same from an international landline phone with caller id withheld (I'm currently in France). Was nice while it lasted, but I can't see any way that ipkall.com could now be useful for anything much - even a normal private caller is liekly to withhold their number and fail to get through. |

![]() a bit variable - I had different results, calling IPKall > Voipcheap from a Voipbuster account
1. unobtainable - "the other party ended the call" 2. message that this doesn't accept unidentified callers, please enter your number 3. successful ring, with VB caller ID showing ** 4,5. same as 2 6. ring, same as 3 7. "connected" but silent, then ended "no data received from the other party" 8. same as 2 9. ring, same as 3 10. silence, says it's ringing 11. one word "sorry", then cut off 12, rang and answered ** (Uk mobile, no country code, but also shown as 47.... with last digit truncated) all within about 8 minutes I don't think it's over for sure, just patchy for a while, but this could be permanent |

http://forum.voxilla.com/ipkall-supp...ber-22457.html An inbound number that only works a percentage of the time, or for certain callers, isn't too useful now. Pity, they were previously reliable (so much so i would have paid for an option to keep it working). |

![]() Ok, thanks, not a temporary glitch then
It sometimes doesn't even work when called direct from a UK mobile that definitely does caller ID - perhaps they are so keen to cut service that they'll only supprt calls within the USA? It's just gone down through a hole in the floor in my opinion - even hearing the the warning message is chargeable, and I've joined the Voxilla forum to comment on that thread And they've got other calller ID issues, like corrupting a caller ID that actually is sent, clipping +4 from the front and dumping the last digit of UK numbers |
