![]() Hi All,
Just got back from a great trip to Positano. While there I used a Vodafone SIM. Worked great. I used it to receive calls from my kids in the states sine they called me at $0.12/min US. Fortunatly, I never turned the phone off until I got on the plane to leave. When I turned it back on it wanted a PIN. I had already thrown away all the cards that came with it that had the PIN written on it. Is there any way to recover the PIN? The card only has 7 Euro on it so big loss but I was hoping to put it up on here for someone else to get when they make a trip over there. Regards, Jeff |

![]() That's why you're not supposed to throw those cards away.
I saw an interesting webiste about how you can make ear rings with old SIM cards. |

![]() On my Dutch Vodafone card, the default code is "0000." No guarantees that this will work for you.

![]() Yep, throwing away the documentation wasn't real bright. 0000 is the default PIN on some Vodafone Italy SIMs. Give it a try - once. If you enter the wrong PIN three times, it won't work, and you need to get the PUK (unblocking code), which was also listed on your documentation.
You can also call Vodafone or send them an e-mail via their website (vodafone.it or 190.it) requesting the default PIN or PUK code. They'll probably give it to you. If all works out in the end, be sure to set up a web account on the above site. That way you will easily be able to top up your SIM with a credit card (It only takes 3 euros every 10 months to keep it alive, which is probably worth doing if you're planning to come back to Italy in a couple of years). ![]() PS: If you try 0000 and it doesn't work, try 1234, which is another common default PIN. If that doesn't work, don't try anything else until you've received a response to your e-mail or call to Vodafone.
One more obvious thing: If you threw the docs away at, say, a friend's house, there's always the chnance it's still in the wastebasket. You can always ask...
