![]() Preparing for an upcoming trip to Europe, I installed a GEOSIM in a Moto L6 and ran some test calls. I received incoming calls, but when I tried making calls I received a "number not allowed" message. Geodesa support said this was due to to the L6 being incompatible. It isn't on their compatible phones list. The support agent said I could try using *125*1* as a prefix to the number I want to dial and add the # sign at the end. This worked.
Not thrilled with this messy dialing method, and not having the option from Geodesa to return the SIM, I emailed the support agent indicating that I was willing to replace the L6 with a Moto RAZR V3 which is on their compatiblity list. He responded that the V3 would not require the *125*1* dialing option, and would "be far more compatible in other ways 'behind the scenes'" (his words exactly). I ordered the V3, installed the SIM and I get the same results. ![]() Needless to say, I emailed the support agent and am waiting for his reply. Should I conclude the SIM is defective? I don't have a third unlocked phone to try! Should I insist Geodesa send me a replacement SIM? I cringe at the thought that it might work the same, and after 3 tries will still have to settle for a less than desirable dialing experience. I'm interested in hearing about other experiences using a GeoSIM, and particularly, if anyone has had this dialing issue using it with a phone on their compatibilty list? Any help with this problem, as well as, dealing with Geodesa for a good resolution is appreciated. It's been a timing consuming and costly experience! Thanks. |

![]() Some phones display "number not allowed", but the call still goes through with these callback sims. At least that's the way it is with my V551 and Nokia 3120 while using riiing and yackie. Did you give it a chance to see if the call will go through?

![]() The error message comes up immediately with the option to retry or exit and that's it. The phone doesn't appear to try to dial the number. When I use the dialing prefix method, the call goes through very quickly. Also text messages aren't being sent out.

![]() Just for your info - My Quad band L6 dials out just fine w. Yackie. I am not a techie, but Yackie seems to use the same dial out/callback method as my UM did - and I assume these other intl. cards.
I have to use the "menu dialing" method on both UM and Yackie on my old SE r520m phone. ...mike I just made another test outgoing call w. my Yackie SIM. Went thru virtually instantly. A/o Oct 20, 2013 no need for intl prepaid as T-Mobile U.S. includes voice roaming at 20¢/min (in and out)., unlimited text (in and out), and unlimited data in 140+ countries. My Plan -[6 lines] U.S. T-Mobile unlimited minutes (incoming and outgoing), unlimited text, fast data on each line. that $145/mo. total! . (In U.S. no surcharge for calling a cell.) If a line exceeds 2G of data in a month, pay $10 more for that line. [That only happens a couple times/year. |

![]() OK, rub it in
![]() On the other hand, the experience with GeoSIM has been entirely on the opposite end of the spectrum. The person that I've been communicating with via email has been terrific, even responding now that he's on vacation. He says that it seems to be the phone's firmware. They've never had a problem with the RAZR, but it's very possible the newer phones have slightly different firmware. He's going to investigate it and should he get it resolved, he will send me 2 SIMS free of charge for each of my phones! He's also credited me for the current semi-functioning SIM. Very impressive customer focus and support. ![]() BTW, the FAQ for the CallBlue SIM describes the prefix dialing method for some phones as well. I want to acknowledge that this site has been extremely helpful. When I first started looking into the options for international mobile use in early July, I never would have imagined what an endeavor it was going to be. I think I've spent an equal amount of time on this as I have on planning my trip! :umm: |

![]() Re: L6 quad band
I bought mine (actually bot 2) off Ebay. They were new and unlocked - BUT - were obviously originally built by Moto as a tri-band and then some modification was made to turn them into a quad band. Maybe this modification process affected some of the other functions. In my phones I don't have the option to allow the clock to be set automatically as the manual says and I am limited to 5 voice dial numbers. ...mike A/o Oct 20, 2013 no need for intl prepaid as T-Mobile U.S. includes voice roaming at 20¢/min (in and out)., unlimited text (in and out), and unlimited data in 140+ countries. ![]() I also bought the L6 and RAZR phone on e-bay - from different sellers. I've questioned whether there's a difference between a phone being unlocked by the manufacturer or a third party and what else they might do. The RAZR is actually branded with the Cinglular logo, which wasn't indicated in the auction listing. I can set it to auto update the time and if memory serves me, I could also do so on the L6.
The guy I've been working with at GeoSIM is on vacation, so I'll follow-up with him next week about his investigation to the incompatibility / dialing issue. |
