agreed, but AT&T charges $.50 each for my family to reach me when i'm overseas and that adds up quickly. but thanks for pointing me to MobiSMS.

actually, doesn't mobile skype (chat only) or mobile yahoo IM use UMTS and is therefore "free" for data plan users, or do they go over SMS?
