Thanks for the reply. You are correct that it worked in the US with the German SIM. Its supposed to be a trimode phone, so it should work on 900/1800 and 1900. I don't know for certain if it is registering in Ireland, but since he is getting a voice response saying that the number is not allowed, I have been presuming that it registered (or it wouldn't have been able to dial out and get the message). Am I wrong to assume that?

Thanks for the dialing suggestion. I will email him and suggest that he try dialing out using the SIM menu (by that do you mean that the phone number list on the SIM?). One thing, though. He also can't get incoming calls. If the problem were only with the dialer, shouldn't he be able to get incoming calls?

Your experience in Germany is unsettling. Hope we can resolve things more quickly.

One more piece of data. I logged onto the CallBlue website to the account for this phone, and the incoming calls to this phone showed up there. But with no connection time (or charges). My son's outgoing call attempts did not show up.
