I got this useful information from the XXSim Support:
In case you experiance problems with receiving the callback (e.g. a network blocks the USSD requests) you can trigger the callback by SMS:
Send the number in international format 00xxxx to 9146 (The SMS will be charged standard rate for the country you are roaming in).
