If worst comes to worst, don't fret. Italian sim cards are among the cheapest in the world.....you can purchase, as I understand it, a TIM card for €10 with €5 worth of credit upon arrival and that will be that...and the nice thing about Italian sim cards is they don't expire until a year has passed since the last recharge and they probably subscribe to the new euro tariffs so if you go to other countries, at most you will paying €0,24 to receive calls and the people calling you will not pay all that large an amount as they might to call Iceland, Estonia, Liechtenstein.
Or you can opt for the new UM+ card which has the free roaming and is using Jersey as its base so those calling you will pay the same as they would have with the Isle of Man cards but it will be more expensive than the Italian sim card which is a pretty good deal.
So like I said, see if Cherry can provide the free upgrade before you leave and if not, opt for the Italian sim upon arrival.
