The freq does not depend on the SIM card, but on the capabilities of the phone. I suspect 09 is mis-informed about local frequency bands. IF they partner with a firm in Ecuador, then the frequency in use in immaterial. As long as the phone is 850 capable, she should have no problems.

My opinion. See what others say.
