Thanks for the tip.

As far as Virgin goes, their website says 180 days, but staff have told me that it's really 365, although after that it's really dead. True, an SMS would be a better idea. I just said "place a call" because my brother in Mississippi is in the same situation, and I'm not sure he knows how to send a text message, so that was the advice I gave him...
