Trying to get old Motorola Select 2000e unlocked
Hello. Does anyone here have any idea as to where I can get an old Motorola Select 2000e (one of the first GSM phones released in North America) unlocked?
The operator that it is locked to is long out of business and my current operator who bought them out keeps giving me this auto-response saying that since my line's SIM isn't in the phone (duh!) they can't unlock it. It's a weird catch-22. The phone appears in their systems as one of theirs but since the phone is SIM-locked, it won't accept any other SIMs besides the original defunct operator's SIM. It would be pretty cool if I can get this old beast working fine with a current SIM (I know it takes one of them credit card-sized SIMs but I made a simple solution for that). Thanks. |
Unfortunately I can't help you with the unlocking problem and I think it will be quite a problem to find someone, who still owns the required hard- and software for unlocking such an old phone.
But be aware, that besides the form factor back in the days SIM cards worked with a potential of 5V, while current ones need 3.3V. Unless your SIM card is 5V-compatible, it won't work in such an old phone. |
