Greek WIND prepay card - what's my number?
Hi all, newbie here.
I've bought a WIND F2G card to use on holiday in Greece. It comes with the usual PIN and PUK numbers, but I can't work out which of the numbers is the actual telephone number. Can't find out by sending a text as the SIM won't register from the UK. Any help welcome! :o |
The one I bought a year ago does not have the number on the SIM or the card it was attached to. I got it from a shop in Greece and it was in a paper envelope which does have the number on it - 693 NNNNNNN.
I just put it in a phone to see if the number is in the menus or address book somewhere, but I couldn't find it. |
The number is not stored in the SIM card directory, it is also not written on the SIM card (where the PIN and PUK codes are written). Nevertheless, if you have a WIND F2G connection pack, it is usually a square blue package (in the size of a CD case) which contains the SIM card and the information booklet. The telephone number is printed on the blue package! If you don't have this and you only have the SIM card, the only way to find out your number is to either make a call from this SIM card to another phone and see the number on the caller ID or call Wind customer care from another line and try to have them tell you your telephone number by giving them the SIM card serial number (the IMSI, which is printed on the back side of the chip)... They probably won't tell you the number, but it's worth trying. The Wind customer service number is +30 6935601260.
Call them, cause in any case they might have a way to help you with your problem! |
Thanks chaps,
My SIM came in a paper envelope. On the rear of the envelope there is a number 690xxxxxxx. Is this my number? |

Yeap! That's it!!!

Nice one, thanks again! I wonder what will happen if I try an online top-up before the SIM is activated. Only 1 way to find out I guess :D

I have a book of Greek SMS messages and their translations. Unlike, say, Italian, I find it hard to tell what they mean at a glance. (It would be great to have an application for my Symbian phone which checks an SMS against a database of translations and tells me that it's similar to one I've had before - and what I thought that one it meant.) |
I've sent an email to WIND customer services. I registered for the online recharge service but it says (rightly) that the SIM isn't registered yet.

You can change the language to english by calling wind cc!
