Indonesia

I am going to spend my summer vacation in Indonesia, Bali, and wanted to ask if anyone has any experiences with United Mobile (+44-xxx and +423-xxx), Tavelsim, GlobalSIM, and the like in that area. Thanks in advance!

UM in Indonesia

UM not working in Indonesia, only partially at the airport in Jakarta, look like callback service, I made a call, then there's this message on my phone said thanks for using UM but no incoming call after that. Better off buying local Simcard which is very very cheap, about $5.00 depend on the number u pick, easy to remember no abit more .

One thing I found in Indonesia is that if you have a postpaid roaming SIM and select Excelcomm (XL) they will assign you a temporary local number and send you a SMS informing you about that number. You can then receive calls on that number as long as you are roaming on XL. This did not work with any prepaid SIMs. Of course, if you can get to the Internet you can set your callback service to that temporary number.

I tested the Celtrek SIM in Indonesia. It worked but I forgot on which networks.

I have that problem everywhere, it doesn't depend on the network but on the phone and on the sim-card. Friends have the same phone and don't have that problem. I'm talking about UM+, with +423 and ICQsim there are no problems.

I think this may depend on the network, too, I suppose. When I received my UM+ SIM and tested in Polish networks last summer, then with both the SAME SIM AND PHONE, I had stable callbacks in Orange and Plus but no callbacks in Era with direct dialing and menu-based dialing. However, the *137* USSD code worked :whistling:

First of all, thanks a lot for all the suggesions! I haven't decided yet what to do but I am thinking of buying a local prepaid SIM.
