found an old PR of TIM and RIM at their website regarding an TIM prepaid Blackberry offer, have a look here:

Can anyone of our italian friends check this and tell me if that offer is still available and how much it will cost?

Also there are hints that it will work with an orange UK prepaid sim card.

Looking for a affordable instant email solution in europe since data is still very expensive.
