Anyone experienced with Areeba Ghana?
My daughter will be traveling to Ghana (Accra, Kumasi, Cape Coast) next month. Looks like Areeba Ghana prepaid is a good fit with her plans (approx $1.60 US for SIM with $1.60 US credit; $.10 US - $.16 US p/min local calling; $.16 US - $.19 US p/min US/Canada/Europe calling). Coverage map for Areeba Ghana looks as good as any. A friend traveling from Croatia through London is picking up a cheap 900 gsm phone so that's covered. Two questions: 1) What restrictions does Ghana/Areeba place on foreigner ownership of local SIMs, 2) Can she buy/topup an Areeba Ghana SIM in the Accra airport or online? Thanks in advance.

I am sure it's very similar to Nigeria. Sims/topups were all over the place. There should be no restrictions at all. Bought mine (MTN Nigeria)from a street vendor and activated it right there all in less than 4 mins. Sim carrd was about $2 with $1 credit. As soon as she gets to Ghana and gets out of the airport she should be able to get a sim right away. I believe their name will be changing to MTN Ghana.

Thanks Bossman. I think I had noticed a press release indicating the name change. It sounds logical that the process would be almost identical to MTN Nigeria.

By the way... Don't know if you're a Cubs fan, but I'm really hoping they can close the gap with Milwaukee this week.

Unfortunately not really a baseball fan.
