CelTrek Advertised Rates are Incorrect

I have been looking into Celtrek and found the information in the forum very helpful.
I am taking a trip to the Bahamas and (as you all know) most global sims don't work there.
The Celtrek site quotes .19/.29 for incoming/outgoing calls from/to the USA.
Celtrek informed me (via email) that due to a 'bug' in thier system, the rates on the site are wrong.
The rates are actually $1.30/$1.46 for Bahamas/USA calls...over 6x the advertised rate!
caveat emptor!

yes...
also for the sms...there are a list of the various world operator where celtrek roam, but the rate are incorrect.
I'll found to send sms on T-Mobile (with celtrek sim) it cost 0.11$, but by e-mail they say that send sms from u.s.a. cost 0.88$....so what's the real cost???

What's the point of advertising incorrect rates? It can't be that difficult to make a change and post the correct thing ASAP. It kind of reminds me of yackie...they posted very good rates initially, and increased the rates (incoming and outgoing) drastically in most of the countries within a few months. BTW, yackie's billing is still "wacky".

I believe Celtrek was actually started by one of the people who left Yackie, maybe Florian Seroussi?

Hi Everyone,

I promised myself not to intervene on the board because I believe forums are no market place.

Like DJHAK mentioned we had a different pricing on our rate calculator than price charged on our billing system.

But we have manually added credit to those customers wrongfully charged.

Now problem is fixed. Outgoing call to the US from Bahamas is .29cts and incoming .19cts.

Those prices will remain until further notice.

As you may know prices are based on termination cost + roaming partners. Some prices are based in Euros mostly for European countries.

Euro exchange rate has dramatically changed over the past months. This will impact all providers. For now we maintain our prices.

Best,

Florian

This is funny...

I clicked on 'cizake' his avatar.
There is a link to his homepage: YackieMobile :-) :whistling:
Roots revealed (we already knew, I know) ...

Thank you for that info.
So you are saying that the rates shown on the website are correct now?
.29/.19 is the actual cost and not the $1.30/$1.46?

Just so everyone knows...I finally had my trip to the Bahamas and used the Celtrek card.
Worked very well. No text messages, but I knew that going in.
The rates charged were the very low rates advertised on the website.
$.29 outgoing to the USA and $.19 incoming.
VERY reasonable.
I know I was skeptical about them after the info I got and the Yackie connection had others suspicious.
I just wanted to let everyone know that I was very pleased. I could not completely figure out the billing...seemed that all outgoing calls were charged twice, but one of the charges was only a few cents.
My most expensive call was under $4 for a 13-14 minute call.
:)

Thanks for the update djhak. They seem to have very good rates in countries where almost every other sim is charging a lot. Most of the caribbean for example. Of course, nothing is guaranteed.

There seems to be two charges for outgoing:
1. Incoming call to the mobile and,
2. The outgoing call from the switch to whomever you are calling.
The problem I found is that while their system keeps telling you to not hang up but rather press "***" (or something like that) to make a follow-on call; this is really more expensive since (unless the number is in your speed dial list) all the time you are entering the follow-on call the meter is still running on your incoming connection.
