Vodafone Portgual, validity and balance

1. How do I check balance on Vodafone Portugal? Is it possible through a *xxx# code?

2. What is the validity of the sim card if I don't reload it?

To check balance I don't know, but talking about the validity you just need to make a billed "event" (call, sms, data...) every 6 months.

So I don't have to top up the card every year or something? Just use it every 6 months?
