so i just returned from italy, where i was using wind. i'm now back in the US, and want to run a recharge. i signed up at mondowind.it, and proceeded to buy. i filled out all the info as stated on this site, and i am using the codice fiscali from the back of the plastic card the sim was punched out of, although it says codice something, not codice fiscali. (it's a 6 digit number. 001234). is this the right number?

i soeak some italian, and i do get a confirmation on the site, as well as a confirmation email. but a few mintes later, i get the email below. i called my credit card companies (i tried 2 cards) and they say they are not denying the charge, as they can't even see a charge...

any ideas?

here's the wind email:

I know... the problem is OmniaNetwork, the society behind MondoWind (and Shop3) :ranting:

Abandon Wind

Since Wind persists in preventing credit card-based recharges from any credit card not issued by an Italian bank, the wisest advice for anyone with a Wind SIM expiring - or any new potential buyer - is buy anything else that works in Italy and can be recharged by ordinary credit cards from anywhere.

The only way the folks at Wind will get the message is when they have no subscribers.

The problem is that EVERY italian operator has this trouble :chair:

Wind, Vodafone and H3G (I don't consider Tim because thanks to their policy it's almost impossible for a italian to recharge online too...) DON'T ACCEPT any foreigner credit cards on their websites :( Sometimes you can pass it using an American Express, but in the last weeks Amex had problems too.

But this is not only an italian problem. I just read on this forum similar troubles around the Europe, so we need a lot of patience ...

My credit card was accepted when recharging includes additional fee. But from some monts ago, may be this have connection with no additional fees, this card and other cards that i have are no more accepted. I think that wind decide to cut any non-local cards when they dont get additional fees.
Now i get exactly the same message as acquazzone.
