Prepaid top-ups online
Hello,
with Scratch vouchers getting more and more replaced by online recharges (Italy, Portugal) I think, it would be helpful to collect informations, where it possible, to recharge online (best with a credit card). On the spot, I got: Caribian, US, Romania: https://www.ezetop.com/Default.aspx D: Aufladen.de - So macht man das! NL: Opwaarderen.nl - Prepaid beltegoed opwaarderen doe je bij Opwaarderen.nl ! S: Tanka mobilen på nätet. Fyll på kontantkortet på Goyada.se PL: A-Gadka - Do?adowania telefonów na kart? w Orange Go, Pop, Simplus, Sami Swoi, Tak Tak, Heyah, Play! To be extended.... |
Anybody tried ezetop ? The selection seems to be rather large (frankly too big to be true...) so I'm wandering if it works at all/reliably (then if yes what's the surcharge). Even if there's no surcharge there are still a lot of details to watch for, if anything many countries in the list don't use EURO/USD, some have VAT (that's calculated separately when you buy normal recharge cards), etc.

Hi,
I used exensively verivox.de (that goes to Aufladen.de) to top-up by credit card my T-mobile sim, but now it seems they have some problems an accepting non-german credit cards (or customers): as a matter of facts, I correctly registered on their site, but all the attemps to pay by cc were unsuccesful (my wife has the same problem). Moreover, it seems to me that their customer care isn't very bright, answering with trivial considerations. Does anybody know other sites for on-line topping-up for german T-mobile sims? Thanks a lot, and ciao |
Hello,
I do not know wheather they accept non-german Credit cards. But they offer bank transfers ("Vorkasse") so it should work this way - at least... Cash&Go |
Good idea to list the online top up services!
For Germany we can add cabox.de, which is especially useful for foreigners because they accept PayPal. When it comes to ezetop, it seems legit. Moldcell actually advises in their own product guide that you should use ezetop to top up from abroad. Their fees also seem fair, for top ups between €5 and €10 you pay a fee of about €1. |

A year ago I purchased a yesss.at SIM on their website, paid for it on my Canadian CC, Verified by Visa OK, and had it shipped to my hotel in Austria. That worked smoothly. Now a few days ago I'm back in Austria with <€1 left. I tried to recharge the SIM online using the same CC, VbV, etc. The transaction was accepted by yesss.at but my online account page didn't get updated to reflect the additional €20 credit or 1-year extension to the expiration date. I e-mailed yesss about this. Their response was that they don't accept non-Austrian cards and that if my Canadian CC was debited the €20 I should contact them again. So far the charge hasn't appeared on my card. FWIW I just bought a €10 tele.ring SIM at a local phone shop. Same 1GB data but it lasts only 1 month. However connections and speeds on tele.ring are much better than they were on yesss (Orange?) |

I've used Babblebug: Babblebug.com | Prepaid wireless refills, prepaid phones, mobile recharges, international topups a couple of times to recharge a Mexican mobile with a US credit card. I found them fast and reliable.
They have refills for many carriers in about 80 countries (for example 19 different carriers/MVNO's in Spain) and seem to also now accept Paypal. Rob |
I can't find the fees at Babblebug. What does it mean to recharge "8.00 USD converted to Spain’s currency"....

So I presume US$8 for Simyo ES for example would give you nearly 6 EUR on the phone, but you'd need to ask them to confirm (maybe it's only 5 EUR, which makes it not a very good deal). Ezetop's site is much clearer, they show the amounts the phone will receive when you enter a number and carrier. With most of these multi-carrier recharge sites you're paying a bit extra just for the convenience. Worth it sometimes to stop a sim expiring. |

I tried them, but it did not work. I think, top up with Bonbonijera does not work outside Croatia: They check the IP address and IP addresses outside Croatia seem to be rejected. Is there some way of "workaround"? |
Just a word of caution: paypal isn't always "international", it might easily mean "US paypal" for example.
More of a problem with the big, "official" shops, I'm sure for example the shop just mentioned will just accept paypal from anywhere. |

I have a Telcel microSIM for my unlocked iPhone4 which I used almost exclusively for Amigo Banda Ancha (internet data) plus a few SMS when I was too lazy to or couldn't find a paperclip to swap in my AT&T SIM. I then used my iPhone as a mobile hotspot for my laptop, iPad, etc. (after I couldn't get a standard Telcel data SIM to work in an unlocked Mifi hotspot, but that's another topic). I travel to Puerto Vallarta for a week or two around New Years every year and want to keep this SIM active (so I'm set as soon as I arrive, no taking a taxi and waiting in line at Telcel for an hour, etc.). The clerk said I had to top up every 4 months to not lose the phone (elsewhere on this forum people report 6 mo). I think he said something in there about 100 pesos, but my Spanish isn't that good. Do you know if there is a minimum amount required to keep the SIM/number active? If not, I see my options as (let me know if wrong):
Unfortunately telcel only offers weekly, bi-weekly or monthly automated online recharging requiring me to set myself 6 or 3 calendar reminders a year in the above scenarios. Thanks in advance RTuesday (and others) for your advice on the minimum to keep the SIM active. I'll look for another thread on getting the Mifi mobile router/hotspot working with Telcel. Joel |

"A terhelendő kártya az üzletági követelményeknek nem felel meg." (Google translate: The card to be charged to the business unit does not meet the requirements.) Are there other possibilities? |
Does someone every tried this service for Romania:
Top up Prepaid in Romania online they offered us with a 1€ bonus for people visiting PrepaidGSM. I don't have Romanian sim-cards so I cannot check the service, but it would be nice if someone could try it. |
It seems to be an Austrian company focusing itself on migrants from Romania (there are quite a lot of them in Austria) wanting to recharge their (family's) prepaids back at home. And in the future possibly extending it with Serbia, Turkey and Poland, of which especially Serbia and Turkey would be very welcome, as there is no other way to recharge those from abroad. I couldn't find anything about fees on their website though...
I'll check it with my Romanian card :) but there isn't any affiliate code in the link you gave - so where does this €1 bonus come from....? |
