Vodafone.it No Longer Allowing Recharge with Foreign Credit Card
As recently as last week I was able to recharge my Vodafome Italy SIM with my US Amex card.
Today, I noticed they have a slightly different interface - and it now rejects my attempt to recharge with a US Amex. Any suggestions about how I can recharge if I am not in Italy to buy topup and I don't have an Italian credit card? Edit: I found a site, http://www.rechargemysim.de/, that will recharge up to 25 Euro for a 3.90 Euro surcharge. Any other methods? |
Just in case you have not tried all of these Vodafone pages:
https://ricarica.vodafone.it/vftopup https://ricarica.vodafone.it/mobile Inside My vodafone app there is another possibility for recharge (Ricarica One Click). PayPal option is available as well which normally uses a different card verification system. |
Since when has it stopped doing this? Do you have a link? As I mentioned in another thread, I'd had no problem with a foreign (German) CC when I topped up (about six weeks ago).

I just topped up my Italian Vodafone SIM with a Canadian issued AMEX card. Went through right away...

The problem is not foreign credit card. The problem is more than 2 topup from same credit card/paypal account in I think 3 months.

The number goes without +39. Just 34...
The probability for the top-up to succeed with a non italian credit card is much higher when the card is registered for 3D security: Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode. Google will tell you where to start if you want to register the card. |

Which says more or less: "Payment denied by the credit card issuer."
In such cases the best is to contact your card issuer (bank,...). Their contact number is normally on the monthly statement. They should be able to see that payment intent and the reason for which they denied the payment. |

When such things happen with my issuer (online or in a real shop), I contact them by phone. Either they tell me there was a mistake in my data used by the shop for authentication (address, house number etc.; some shops take this data from delivery address or their customer databases). Or they just tell me I should try to pay again and then the payment is approved. I suppose they have a possibility to mark a rejected transaction in their system in a way that it is accepted if repeated.
