SFR card with €5 credit currently costs €2

SFR are currently selling prepaid SIM cards with €5 of credit for €1.99.

SFR La Carte : carte SIM prépayée et sans engagement

I've ordered one as it's a easy way of getting a traditional +33-6 mobile number (which can be ported elsewhere such as to B&You) instead of one of the new +33-7 prefixes which have caused me some problems with incoming international calls on Lycamobile.

Does anyone know if the €5 can be used to buy their €5/100MB/7day data bundle? From reading the tariff guide, it seems that you have to buy this bundle as a top-up, but it's not clear.

Cartes prpayes, recharger la carte de tlphone SFR

It is a particular top-up. I tried to get it in Aug 2012, but every shop assistant told me that it wouldn't work. Don't ask me why...

NFH 02-12-2012 15:59

So all the included €5 is good for is rip-off calls at €0.55/min and €0.12/text? That's a shame.

Apologies for the incorrect link above to the tariff guide. It's at http://s8.s-sfr.fr/mobile/uc/00/60/9...IRE11.2012.pdf

In what way do they help us get hold of a B&You card?

Haha. They don't. I would just like to get a +33-6 number to port to B&You when we eventually order it.

kuba.g 02-12-2012 23:39

Haha OK ;)

I received two SIM cards (duplicate order) and each one cost SFR €2.30 in postage. Unfortunately, they are not pre-activated and the only way to activate them is to dial 963 while logged on to SFR in France. If I put the SIM into a phone in the UK, it says "invalid SIM". It's also a full-sized mini-SIM which large chip contacts, with no perforation to break out a micro-SIM (let alone nano-SIM).

VladS 08-12-2012 21:17

How did you get them to send the cards to the UK?

I didn't. I ordered them to the Paris office of the place I'm working at and they sent them through the internal post to me in London. Before anyone asks, I can't use this method for ordering B&You SIM cards, because the addressee will be different for each customer.

NFH 26-12-2012 23:50

I found out how to activate this card from outside France. By following the instructions on SFR's web site, I activated the card online. I was allocated a memorable +33 6 01 number which I will port to B&You. I could also get the RIO porting code by dialling 3179 while roaming at no charge. The card also has €10, not €5, of free credit, although most of this will be wasted once I port the number.

The price has recently gone back up to €5.

fsotirop 26-01-2013 13:37

You can't without having the use of a French address (e.g. a hotel) where you can receive the delivery.
