Vpoip..betamax stopped access to isle of man mobiles.

I had been ising a betamax clone (megavoip) to call a Isle of Mn mobile number (+4477000) but suddelny last week betamax barred calling Isle of Man mobile! sorry nothing we can do about it their response!

do you know any other cheap alterantive for this destination?

prion 27-02-2012 08:35

It is an expensive destination. That is why probably betamax barred calls to it.
I have not been able to verify rates to this from many cheap carriers I have tried. The cheapest I have found so far is 14 eurocents/min.

Others do not appear to offer it. Can yoy give me a number to try and check rates?

fsotirop 27-02-2012 10:07

betamax allowed access (charged as UK mobile ) until last week.
most providers charge this as a UK mobile destination, that's why they don't have "isle of man" as a destination country.

which is the one with 14c you have found?
number is +447700056879 (network provider: Cloud9 Communications Limited)

Betamax charges a flat rate for calls to UK mobiles without differentiating between prefixes. However some of these (like cloud9) have higher termination fees. Once a limit of calls is reached for these prefixes the provider (e.g. betamax) choses whether to allow calls or charge higher rates. They have chosen the first option. Block calls.

The carrier I have found is

Cheap International Calls | Localphone

It is a stable provider with good qaulity. Charges per minute. Has local access numbers in Greece also

fsotirop 27-02-2012 10:51

thanks, checking on them.
actually the cost is 16.6 eur.cents/min icluding vat.

betamax after just making 1call to this number (for 2 minutes) afterwards blocked automatically the access to this number ... no limit of calls happened to my case, they just barred this series of numbers almost instantly.

I'm not so sure about that. From the national landline operator BT the rates for Cloud9 numbers are the same as for 3 or O2, which are the same anyway.

Some other prefixes are more expensive, but I don't know yet whether these have any similar action by Dellmont or Finarea brands

The few voip carriers that I have checked seem to charge higher rates for calls to this prefix (+447700) as compared to o2 or the other major cell operators. Even localphone which is a UK carrier charges more

So I assumed that they would indeed had higher termination rates.

fsotirop 27-02-2012 19:32

the only sure thing is that Dellmont/betamax barred me the access to these numbers after my 1st call...

ronwi 05-03-2012 20:21

I have a IOM number beginning +447924....

Using the Mobilevoip app a few weeks ago, I had intermittent problems with calls to my IOM phone.

Reading this today, I tried making a few calls directly through Voipgain to my IOM number and it went through fine.

fsotirop 05-03-2012 23:42

which is the network provider of this +447924 number .. cloud9? you can check it here: http://www.numberingplans.com/?page=...is&sub=phonenr
your calls through Voipgain were chargable calls or just un-answered calls?

mingelli 06-03-2012 12:47

Have you tried the business betemax website like VoipTrade if they work with IOM mobiles. They used to work well on all UK numbers. If not Nindino also connects to all UK numbers for a very good rate. Nindino: Cheap calls to India, Pakistan, Srilanka, Saudi Arabia, USA from anywhere in the world

fsotirop 06-03-2012 15:47

nindino

has anyone tried Nindino's Phone to Phone callback function if it works ok?

andy 10-03-2012 04:31

I wonder if some of the cheaper Betamax providers will have stopped service to some numbers and others would still work, but I also wonder if the problem you've had is only on soem numbers

I called a +4476241... number using Justvoip a few days ago and it worked ok. I haven't tried 077000 though.

No, but I've seen Nyxfone discussed in one or two places, including an old thread here, and wondered about trying it. Given that the callback trigger number is the same these seem to be related

Note that some of these SIMs don't send caller ID information, so are going to be tricky to use with some other services

fsotirop 10-03-2012 11:27

Nindino also can't access 004477000 numbers

Bossman 11-03-2012 13:52

I just want to chime in on this - I have an IOM number (+447924) from easyroam. Calling it via voipCheap now give a busy tone. I have used this in the past with VoipCheap without problems.

fsotirop 11-03-2012 15:33

IOM 004477000 numbers aren't accesible from alsmost anywhere!

bbob 28-03-2012 17:17

I am using voicetrading from betamax on ekit +44 number and this has no problems

fsotirop 28-03-2012 18:52

it depends mainly from the network vendor of each number.. not the reseller (e.g ekit)
can you post some more digits?

voicetrading only accept business customers?

bbob 29-03-2012 11:11

ekit number +44-7924 no problems

voicetrading is normally for business in the Eu, you have to supply a valid VAT number. You might also be able to register and non eu member

fsotirop 29-03-2012 11:25

i tried also with voicetrading +4477000 aren't accessible either by this betamax clone..
the cheapest i have find (and accessible) for these +4477000 numbers is rebtel at 0.12 eurocents/minute.

ronwi 01-10-2012 23:06

I noticed that both Voipgain and Voipyo (and probably the other Dellmont/Betamax brands, I did not check) now have dual-tiered pricing to UK mobiles - one for "main" and one for "others." Presumably this separates the expensive IOM numbers from the standard UK mobile numbers. My guess would be that with the dual-tier pricing, they no longer block certain IOM numbers as has been reported here.

The pricing was for Voipyo: €0.02 for "main" and €0.12 for "others", Voipgain: €.05 for "main" and €.12 for "others."

Sent another email asking if they blocked this service.

Mantra 05-12-2016 16:28

What about such services like skype, watsup, hangouts, callnspeack?
I used hangouts being abroad before bringing all the family together.
