Various questions on ALDI Talk

kuba.g 06-02-2012 12:05

Doesn't exist, as far as I know.
What's wrong with eBay though?

fsotirop 06-02-2012 17:50

sorry, I mean for ALdi talk.

fsotirop 06-02-2012 23:49

has anyone tried to topup his aldi mobile through a eplus voucher from here?
Recharge your mobile with

kuba.g 06-02-2012 23:53

Not from that very shop, but I did successfully recharge my German MEDIONmobile (Aldi Talk) using ePlus top up codes - it works without any problems.

I used cabox once and aufladen.de twice.

thanks for the info, what is the link for cabox please? cabox.de seems not working

fsotirop 07-02-2012 00:01

haven't you tried topeez.com or it just doesn't work a aldi topup with them?
it seems that may be a problem because they directly credit the sim. they don't send the voucher code via email/sms,

kuba.g 07-02-2012 00:52

I haven't tried topeez - no idea if it'll work or not.
It seems cabox is down, indeed.

fsotirop 07-02-2012 11:53

is ok now their website.
how can I topup when I get the recharge code?

Globetrotter 07-02-2012 12:44

to recharge AldiTalk:

enter: *104* 16-digit recharge code # then press the call button
Example: *104*1234567890123456#

kuba.g 07-02-2012 23:22

*104*[recharge code]#

Edit: didn't notice Globetrotter's reply above!

fsotirop 08-02-2012 12:42

thanks both guys!
has anyone tried this (*104*recharge code#) while abroad in roaming?

another question, when I receive my aldi sim, will I have first to register it online in order the sim to be activated OR sim is activated by just getting a network signal for the 1st time?

kuba.g 08-02-2012 22:19

Yes I did it in roaming :)

You MUST activate it online first. You need to enter a German Address for that. Your sim should work within 30 minutes of registering it.

fsotirop 09-02-2012 10:57

thank you, I did that.
for the "EU INTERNET PAKKET 60" what is the apn? internet.eplus.de ?

kuba.g 10-02-2012 13:46

Yes, the same as you use in Germany.

fsotirop 10-02-2012 22:32

i can confirm that recharge for aldi mobiles from this eshop: Recharge your mobile with works properly using eplus vouchers! credit is sent directly to the sim after few seconds!

*minumum value of recharge is 10euro! they accept paypal, creditcard e.t.c.

fsotirop 13-02-2012 17:17

how can the mailbox of alditalk be deactivated?

kuba.g 14-02-2012 00:22

Call 9911, configure mailbox (choose your PIN, etc) then choose 3 → 2 → 8 (see http://www.alditalk.de/talk/download...sanleitung.pdf page 10)

9911 is not accessible while abroad in roaming... at least in where I am/

inquisitor 14-02-2012 12:05

It should. Try to change the roaming network since probably the short access numbers (9911) are not configured correctly on the current roaming network. If you are blocked by a foreign network upon the first attempt to register retry it up to three additional times because the refusal is often caused by "roaming steering" where your home provider manipulates SS7-signaling in order to avoid your SIM to register on networks with subpar wholesale prices. However after three failed registration attempts the steering server induldges as it assumes that you are outside of coverage of your home provider's preferred roaming network.

fsotirop 14-02-2012 17:21

unfortunately no,
I tried all 3 netowrks in Greece but 9911 number isn't accessible with all these 3 networks.

inquisitor 14-02-2012 20:18

Then try calling your own number with 99 inserted between the mobile prefix and your individual number.
Be aware that mobile prefixes starting with 016 and 017 are 4-digit while those starting with 015 are 5-digit.

Here are some examples how the mailbox number is being created:
0163/1234567 => +49 163 99 1234567
0178/1234567 => +49 178 99 1234567
01577/1234567 0> +49 1577 99 1234567

You should also know that once you disable your mailbox there will still be a "feature" called "caller info by SMS", which will notify you by SMS about every missed call. Unfortunately if this feature answers the call it will actually be billed to the caller. With Aldi Talk will always have to pay if they try to reach you.

fsotirop 15-02-2012 11:17

thanks but with this way i cannot setup the pin-password for the mailbox. this is only to hear your messages with typing the already setted-up pin-passowrd.

setup of mailbox can only be done by calling 9911.

fsotirop 03-03-2012 13:31

What are the expiration terms of the Aldi sim card and the balance on it? 12 or 24 months after last recharge or last chargable call/sms?

inquisitor 03-03-2012 16:26

The SIM and the credit is valid for 12 months but any consequential recharge will prolong activity and validity for 24 months. After your balance has expired, the SIM will remain active for another two months. Actually the credit doesn't really expire since this would be illegal according to German law. It will rather be removed from your balance but you can ask eplus (the entity behind ALDI Talk) to refund the amount by bank transfer.

fsotirop 03-03-2012 16:33

so the simcard will actually be valid 26months after last recharge & the credit on the sim 24 months after last recharge?

dg7feq 05-03-2012 13:13

yes, you are right

fsotirop 06-03-2012 12:07

i think at the moment ALDITALK has the best EU roaming pakket availiable.
4.99eur. for 60mb valid for a week, thereafter you can buy a new pakket . standard rate in EU countries is 0,49/mb with 10kb billing.

inquisitor 06-03-2012 18:50

At least I don't know of any cheaper rate for EU roaming. Btw if you can't reach the short access number in order to activate the roaming package from abroad (11551) as it has been the case for the mailbox number (9911) you can still do it on the Aldi Talk website or through their Aldi Talk app.

fsotirop 07-03-2012 00:06

yes Aldi Talk website and through their Aldi Talk app. works great.

i also have find another cheap alternative for data in europe..ekit global premium sim $0.39/mb (approximately €0.29) to many european countries ekit, Mobile Info

kuba.g 07-03-2012 03:40

Do they actually charge you roaming costs when you call 11551 from abroad? (I only used the roaming package by activating it online until now...)

Another great sim for 1-day-usage in Europe is the Irish Vodafone which gives you 50MB for €2,99. Its advantage over Aldi Talk is that it works in some European countries which aren't part of the EU, like Switzerland, Croatia and Albania.

No, the 11551 is free of charge.
