Tru phone and SIM starting at $7.98 total!!

On, eBay, as of 4pm Pacific Time, Best Buy Outlet Store and CowBoom [a Best buy Company] have 40 "NEW Samsung E2210 Truphone Local Anywhere Cell Phone" These are a telephone and a SIM card. The starting price is $7.98 and free shipping. A while back, someone was asking how to get a Truphone SIM [now 'Tru'] for less than $30. This might be an option.

Does anyone know if the Samsung E2210 is quadband?

Bossman 15-01-2011 04:21

According to gsmarena it's a quadband phone - Samsung E2210B - Full phone specifications

Sure don't give much info about the TruPhone SIM. Also, doesn't indicate whether the phone is SIM locked to that SIM.

When calculating how much this is worth, realize the value on the SIM could be $7.50, rather than the current $15.00, and I think there were some that had $10.00.
Then as you say: Is it unlocked? We can hope.

I have now won an acution. Hopefully it will arrive before they are all gone so I can report whether the SIM is worth getting.

Hopefully, mine will arrive on Thursday. [I will then report.] As of Wednesday, the 19th, They have sold 40 and still have 40 more available for auction. Hopefully the prices will start to decline.

Would you please tell us how much you paid? I'm trying to get a feel for where I should be bidding.

I would also be interested to know if the SIM comes with $15 free credit.

rfranzq 20-01-2011 20:22

it is an auction after all

I am a little hesitant to answer that. I paid 'too much' of course. I really wanted to get one as soon as possible. It was about the 30th auction. To get a feel, I would suggest you start watching the items [search 'Truphone'] ,there are currently 40. I think the prices are going to start to drop [hope, hope] I hope to get at least 3---it is cheaper to win one of these than to buy a spare battery. It is still before Noon here, and I expect UPS to arrive this afternoon. I wonder about the other bidders. Do they know what Truphone is or are they just buying the phone? Maybe some will try selling the Truphone package.
As of now, 40 have been sold and there are 40 on offer. I wonder how many they have to sell? More thoughts and hopefully a report later.

First three little bits of information.

I got the phone/SIM at 1205 today [Pacific Time].

1. The box is really tiny.

2. The SIM packaging is version 2.1. $15.00 call time. [The phone box is surrounded by a sleave that promotes and explains Truphone.

3. The phone is UNLOCKED and quad-band. [You can choose all four bands or 900/1800 or 850/1900.

I will now take a short breath and register the SIM and charge the battery.

Any question?

I activated the SIM with no problem--in fact, the very first phone number/area code [Calif] that I choose--it was the area code I wanted and the number had a pattern. [If you are choosing a Tru number, if you don't like the one you got, choose another state and then choose the state you want again. You may have to do it a lot to get the area code you want, and if you are picky about the number keep doing it! Eventually, you will choose one. A quick way to go is choose DC, CT or WV which do not have numbers available and then go back to the state of your choice.]

As I said before the Tru SIM has a $15.00 balance and a one month 'membership.'

If you have questions about the phone, please ask. Some one is bidding on a lot of them.

Samsung E2210B Manual

If anyone is interested, here is the URL for a PDF of the Manual that comes with the Samsung E2210B cell phone that we are mentioning here. Of course this is in English while the original in the box is in Spanish as is the other material in the box. There is an 8.5x11 inch photocopy in English of this in the box. This is the same and you can always blow up the thing on your computer.

Well bestbuy and its subsidiaries have apparently finished selling the phone SIM combo. 131 were sold on eBay. An additional 47 were sold on overstock.com .

Hope some of you got some for the Truphone SIM or even the phone or both.
