free unlock code calculator for Huawei modems on the web
Hello world,
Just found this interesting site, which provides free unlock code calculation for Huawei modems: Online Huawei Modem Unlock Calculator regards, Inquisitor |
You beat me to it by one day. See also http://www.prepaidgsm.net/forum/mobi...html#post31466 for a downloadable calculator and a real English description of how to do an unlock.
It works fine on my E1550. |
...for stupid beginners in this sector: where can i find the huawai mobile partner software for the vodafone branded k3565 sticks? They dont appaear in the list of downloads on the huawai website...

The K3565, which in fact is a Huawei E160X, is unlocked (at least if bought in Germany). However the dashboard software in the flashmemory of the K3565, "Vodafone Mobile Connect", won't establish data sessions with third party SIM cards. So there is no lock in the device itself, but the dashboard software is restricted. Now what you need to do is simply running a dashboard update which will replace that Vodafone software by Mobile Partner. You'll find download links at Huawei E160 (E160G, E160E, E160X, K3565) - 3G modem wiki (try the official update from 27-May-2009 and if that fails try the inofficial version - the last time I tried it only the inofficial version worked).

cool, thanks for the info. I will try when i get a hand on that modem the next time....
|
Many thanks for the info!
I've managed to unlock E160 (initially locked for Play, Poland) and E870 (Orange, Poland), both without any problems. |
Okay stupid question. How do I use the calculator and can I unlock E160E with it? What else do I need?
|
Jervin - go to Online Huawei Modem Unlock Calculator, enter IMEI number of your USB stick (you will find this at the back of it), enter the security code (re-type the number shown on the website) and press Calculator. You should get a set of numbers in red colour, from which you need Unlock.
Once you have done this you need to place a sim card that comes from another provider into your E160 USB stick. Now depending on your software you either will be asked for an unlock code (which is the above mentioned Unlock) just after starting your ordinary software that you use for estabilishing a connection to the internet (obviously you need to plug in your USB stick first) or should use an alternative method described on the mentioned website as How to enter code. I hope this helps. |
please help..

Also have people checked out this unlock site to make sure it isn't some kind of scam trying to get into our computers? |
All modems from Tchibo are locked and you have to unlock it in order to use it with another SIM card. The E160 is compatible with all Italian and French networks, so you can use any operator in these countries.
I wouldn't post links to scam pages and since you don't have to download anything from that page for unlocking, there's little danger. |
pliz help i have gone through all the procedures but after sending the unlocking command i get ERROR message as below
Found Phone, Phone Info: - Manufacturer :huawei - Model :E1752 - Revision :11.126.11.00.00 - Phone IMEI :354639046592983 Send Unlock Command... ERROR |
Why don't you use Mobile Partner to enter the unlock code? Just insert a SIM from another operator in your stick and Mobile Partner will ask for the regular SIM PIN code and right after that for the unlock code.

just wanted to advise to anyone who is thinking about which way to go ...
DO NOT repeat my mistake! Instead of trying to get some locked modem, unlocking it, and using with another sim card ... why not to add an extra 20-25 and to get a proper modem (fully unlocked) with a much better reception and to use it with any provider you like? For example, this one Solwise LP1917E 3G USB Modem w/ External Antenna (Unlocked) NET-3G-LP1917E Unlocking might work, or might not. It highly depends on the model, manufacturer, etc, etc, etc inquisitor, do not take it personally, ok? ;-) [ update : instead of playing with ZTE i found some Hauwei modem (thanks to my colleague who gave me some tchibo modem and trying to use your link above. The model is not mentioned in the description (E173), however unlocked code is generated by the online script. Will try it tonight. Thanks. ] [ if it would not work then - *** it, i'll get a proper unlocked modem ] |
I would not buy such a no-name product but only Huawei devices. Also the bigger antenna of the proposed device is not necessarily helpful as the signal is being vertically concentrated with increasing antenna length and so will underperform in most scenarios, where you have multipath propagation and reflections. Lastly this device seems to have only a single antenna and so does not antenna diversity which is most important for HSPA performance.
Unlocking the E173 should work flawlessly with the code created from the site linked in the first post. |
Hello. Is there a way to unlock a Huawei E5331 for free?
