Austria prepaid sim

Hi everyone! I need your help...
I'm going to spend 8 days in Austria, and I'd like to buy a local SIM which could be mantained alive from Italy.

I know Vodafone allows their customers to top up using international scratch cards of their Vodafone partner networks, but Vodafone doesn't operate there.

So, the question is: do you know if some austrian carriers allow international topping up? I know just a bit of Deutsch, so I'm not able to understand all the information provided by their web sites...

Thank you very much! :)

No one can help me?

I don't know if A1 supports Vodafone refills, but I fear it doesn't.
By the way, it could be possible to refill them online, but we need the help of our Austrian or maybe German friends.

Thanks Effendi, I just found what I was looking for!

A1 supports Vodafone top-ups, as written on its site!
A1.net - A1 Standard Login Seite
Under "Guthaben" tab, they say:

Very good!

Bye!

You can top-up yesss! SIM cards over the web using foreign cards.

I just don't understand what kind of Taxes are necessary if you top-up abroad...
Seems they charge you 2 or more Euros if you use Vodafone cards. And the account can be mantained alive only toppin up 20 or more euros!

Oh, thanks for the tip! :)
I hope I'll be able to easily find a reseller, using Google Maps!

I often use this Austrian onlineshop, especially to buy
A1 B-free and T-Mobile Austria top-up-codes
when I'm not in AT.

Good, very fast, 'cheap'.
satcom - Handy und Navigation- onlineshop Salzburg

The 2€ fee is not a tax, but they just like to eat you....
This fee is normal for Vodafone top ups abroad with a voucher of a foreign VF network.
BTW: The menu of your account manager changes when you call from a foreign network. There is provided a new choice: Top up with a foreign voucher.
If you choose wrongly, it will not work.

Oh, so it's normal! Wow, honest as usual. :)

And, last question...do I really have to top up at least 20 euros every year, unless they deactivate my A1 account? Thank you again!

VladS 14-07-2009 13:39

A1 is EUR20/year.
yesss voice SIM is EUR10/year.
yesss data SIM is EUR20/year.

So, a 25€ Vodafone Italy topup is ok, right? Thank you again, I won't bother you anymore...! ^^

I called their hotline just to ensure.
Yes it is correct, once within 12 month you MUST top up at least 20€, otherwise your B.free card will be deactivated.
That is necessary for both call and data SIMs of A1 (the prepaid offers are called B.free).

After the 12 month limit you have time during the 13th month to call the hotline to have the SIM reactivated, but then it has to be recharged anyway.

The hotline I called was 0800-664300, I don't know if it's the only number.

Thank you for the info! I'll see if it is worth to buy it, or to use my italian 3 using "3LikeHome" and included minutes... I think I'll opt for the second one! :D

Anyway, thank you everyone for the help ;)
