Problems with UM +423 SIM [split thread]

Hello

Sorry to bother you but I have an unblocked Iphone 3G (using turbo-SIM) and I m trying to use a united mobile Liechtenchtein SIM card. The network shows and I can sometimes receive messages but no incoming calls work and I cant send any SMS. Does anyone have any idea about this?

Thank you very much in advance

AG

Don't put the same news everywhere, please

Have you credit?

Welcome to the forum, ag1540

I've split this to a new thread on its own and deleted other copies (and merged fedeprovenza's replies), as it wasn't really on topic on the threads you posted it

I've also moved two other replies from one thread to another

Hi

Sorry about that, i m new to these things. I do have credit but nothing seems to work...

Thanks

Do any other SIMs work in your iPhone? That's one obvious question.

If so, we know you're having a UM problem. If not, you're having a problem with your iPhone or with your unlocking device.

I have a similar trouble... actually UM+423 has italian roaming only on Vodafone network: well, ok but I can't receive incoming calls from all the italian networks! Vodafone, Wind, Tim and H3G has a busy tone calling any +423663 number... i can receive from Skype and stop.

Do you have a similar problem from french networks, I suspect :D

PS: i can send/receive SMS, i can call but i can't receive :chair:

Try turning off 3G. It's a turbo SIM issue as it sounds to me, nothing to do with the service providers nor the carriers.

I don't have that problem, I'm using it inside an old Siemens S55 :D

Anyway I think that simply a lot of italian carriers can't reach +423663 numbers... :chair:

Ok... thanks to snainom (http://www.prepaidgsm.net/forum/inte...-update-2.html) we can read that T-MO (USA) and T-Mobile UK have blocked Liechtenstein mobiles too :(

We can read it, but it's mistaken with respect to T-mobile UK. I've never heard this before and it reaches +423663 without problems at the moment

My +423 balance went to zero when I switched to +44 a couple of years ago. Now I just logged into my UM account. My +44 balance is as I expected it but I see the balance on +423 at EU610!!!

Their activity log does not indicate when the balance was increased but it wasn't there when I last logged in about a month ago.

Anyone else get such a New Years's gift from UM?

Now if I can only find my old +423 SIM :D

If you can't find your sim you could always ask for a replacement or ask them to put the balance on your +44 card.

False alarm! It was indeed too good to be true.

I found the old +423 SIM. While my online balance continues to show EUR610, a call to 089 responded that my balance is now -17¢ :(

bylo 18-01-2009 15:08

Update. I just checked my balance again. The EUR610 is gone, replaced by a negative US$0.42 balance.

Their explanation? According to the Recent activities log...

What "value" did they "add" other than charge me for a "free" service???

bylo 18-01-2009 20:57

Evidently when UM talk about "added value" they mean to their bottom line, not ours :(

tivoboy 18-01-2009 23:53

Is the .19 a charge for incoming or not? IF one looks at the rate tables on the website, it shows .19 for OUTGOING only, and that incoming calls are FREE, no asterisk.

snaimon 19-01-2009 01:13

Read it and weep!

From the bottom of their RATES page

"* Call set up rate for all calls (one time) EUR 0.19"

United Mobile - Rates & Coverage - Low rates for calls and internet worldwide.

What don't you understand about "all calls"

Off topic RANT:

On Jan 11, 2009 the US weekly "Newsweek" ran an COVER article

Pressroom : COVER RELEASE: WHAT WOULD DICK DO?

about torture in which they write:

"Dealing with the issue of torture will also be complicated."

I wrote to them in part citing the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 5:

"Article 5. No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment."

I asked what could be complicated about the words "No one"?

Revolting and disgusting!

Stan

I DO see the comment, but if I make a request for information about say GERMANY to FRANCE call rates, the table comes up and it says that the .19 if OUTGOING calls only.

Here is a snapshot of that type of content.

dg7feq 20-01-2009 21:13

That is indeed misleading. Would be helpful to notify them to let their webmaster make some changes.

snaimon 21-01-2009 13:57

Agreed

Yes, I saw that, too. Caveat emptor.

PERSONALLY, I believe honesty IS the best policy. I would HOPE the error of omission was just an oversight rather than intentionally misleading information. At the latest when the customer checks his/her transaction history online or makes a balance request, he/she will discover the "error".
