GT-SIM what's going on??

I have a GT-SIM which was previously a call blue sim. In August I started having problems in Italy and they emailed me to say something was changing, and they would send me a new sim. I sent an address, but no new sim. emailed them again last week, but no reply. It is/was a great sim for global roaming, and seems to one of the best for Malta where I now spend a lot of time.

The web site is still up and running, offering the sim, and I can still get into my account.

Does anybody know what is going on, and any advice for getting a new sim so I can use my balance, aswell as continuing to use it.

d3niz 02-12-2007 19:04

i also have a gt-sim thats not working. many operaters have suspended their service due to callkey being shutdown. there's lots of posts about this.

i dont think gt-sim will send out any replacements. and i think you will have to forget about your balance.

you might want to have a look at the new callblue other.

Richard10002 02-12-2007 23:39

Had a look at the callblue web site, and it looks just like what I bought in the first place.... but how can callblue offer this service, when many others no longer can?

I'm somewhat wary having had the previous experience with callblue/gt-sim

Cheers

Richard

Callblue has a Jersey sim now...

Callkey is back online, GT-SIM still dead ...

JohnDoe 24-01-2008 16:23

My GT-SIM is logging in into the following German networks, E+ and Vodafone.de. Does not connecting with T-Mobile and 02.

No callback at the moment.

interesting - and very, very surprising after all this time!

I've just re-tried my gt-sim and 0044 sims (both 44 7624 1nn nnn) and they do indeed now log onto Manx Telecom (in the Isle of Man). Still get a number range invalid message when calling them so no callback possible.

Gt-sim seems to try to send an sms, but it hasn't arrived yet. 0044 refuses to send an sms.

ekit (44 7924) still dead.

Just came across this....seems like they are back....hmmm

I think Yackie means that even though there is a new or different LINK, the person behind the site is the same person (company) behind the first, original site. Yackie claims it is a German person who lives in Bangkok.

I cannot verify that statement. Just trying to clarify.

Vesko 02-02-2008 13:56

Yackie is right. The mentioned guy is named Markus Hauschild and is managing his one-man-adventure together with his brother and his Thai wife.
I have contacted him several times since I bought a GT-SIM in 2006 for allmost 40 EUR and after I recommended this SIM to my boss who is a frequent traveller.

Mr. Hauschild is a very pleasant phone partner with one big fault: 99% of his promisses, sentences ot whatever are naked lies.
The last big one was with the replacement of the old dead GT-SIM (Callkay) with a new one. The first time the excuse was: Oh, of course, but in your details I just see that you've ordered your SIM over gt-sim.de. But we first replace the orders over gt-sim.com, please be patient for 14 days. This one was repeated 2-3 times from september 2007, now we have Feb 2008 ;)

I doubt that somebody actually has received a new GT-SIM from him.
Another story was with the dual-sim-phone. He meant the first charge of 50.000 pieces was literally swallowed by their distribution channels so one has to wait 2-3 months untill again deliverable. But... has somebody this phone? Any test, any opinions? Negative... a little bit strange considering the 50.000 phones that are in use...
The third myth was in connection with a new product of GT-SIM where the minute rates for all networks in Germany should be less than 8 ct/min.
And so on...

Now he is selling another GT-SIM with another roaming partners (at least for Bulgaria there are all 3 networks listed, the old one had 2 roaming networks there) with setup fees of again 40 EUR and cheap minute rates. But how reliable is this card? How long will it survive?

As gt-sim has vitually NO support - apart from the big stories of Mr. Hauschild - and no information system if somethings goes wrong, this time I will not play the early adopter and will abstain from this offer.

christophe 03-02-2008 00:12

:???: can we trust this "new" GT-sim again ?
regarding all nformations on the website Yes
reading our complete thread; doubt? or No?:(
so many companies falled out in 2007.
Our choice for prepaid reduce every day....

JohnDoe 05-02-2008 19:38

Any GT-SIM user here and interested in some news?

:) My SIM just logged in to all four networks in Germany.

No SMS, no Callback and no reachability at the moment.

MATHA531 05-02-2008 20:33

Believe it or not, mine is now registering in the USA on T Mobile USA...

Bossman 05-02-2008 20:36

Can you make or receive calls on it? I guess it may need to be re-activated before that can happen. If that's the case, I guess us that bought from resellers that have packed up "freeGlobalSim" are so out of luck.

...I was just going to write not that I can make or receive calls yet...incidentally my re-seller had requested and I had furnished a request to reactivate which was acknowledged.

I guess one small step at a time.

Is yours a GT SIM or another Manx SIM? If so which one?

JohnDoe 06-02-2008 10:50

Looks like GT is back, calls will be directly routet to the mailbox, notification via e-mail within 1 minute.

At the moment no calls incoming, no SMS outgoing, no SMS incoming.

No credit = No callback, No SMS, No inbound calls

All credit and web access services (pin number) have been removed for all users and this can only be reinstated by the distributor/suppler.

You will need to contact your distributor/suppler first.

.

According to eKit's customer service there are no plans to reactivate Callkey based SIM cards.

Would it be possible for other resellers to take these SIM cards over and reactivate them?!

VladS 06-02-2008 19:57

I just tried calling my GT (ex Callblue) number (07624-120xxx) and the phone, registered on the Rogers network in Canada, rang.

Bossman 06-02-2008 20:13

freeGlobalsim is working too

I just tried calling my number too. It rang! I forgot I had it forwarded to my US mobile number before they went belly up! Well, it's still forwarded. As my mobile rang. I was surprised, as I actually answered the call, thinking someone else was calling me.

Kind of surprising though. Since freeGlobalsim is no more. So, I am assuming they reactivated all sims for now. Now, I have to get home a look for the sim whre I think I threw it. :-)

In any case, ekit have been offering their own replacement for some time, but you might try asking them the question again, as I don't think the matter necessarily is closed. I'm waiting for them waiting for more info.

It's been possible to transfer across reseller lines for some time. Indeed, according to a check of my emails, I asked the question 16 months ago. Although it was approved then, I never did it, and now that reseller will see it as a conflict of their interest - some negotiating to do ...

According to one of the supervisors in eKit's Boston callcenter there are no plans to re-activate any of the Callkey based SIM cards. At least this was their position on 2/5.

I also got the same impression talking to the GT-SIM chap. They plan to issue replacement SIMs and don't plan to reactivate Callkey based ones.

While I might not mind paying a porting fee to recover several of my 7624 numbers, I would never sign up with a provider who charges montly or annual fees or impose minimum monthly or quarterly usage quotas. Are there any other providers offering to port defunct Callkey cards?!

easyroam- 13-02-2008 00:48

Callkey numbers

As long at the dealer is no longer trading with callkey anymore,
It can be ported to a new distributor/dealer.

What ever happens, customers have until 29th April to port over, Then the sim card will be dead for good !

.

Keighleyboy 18-02-2008 01:58

Is it only GeoSIM that still use CallKey?

diclidophora 20-02-2008 15:34

GT-SIM anything doing in the UK ?

Nothing doing with GT-SIM in the UK. My credit is still showing on their web site, but no action despite a statement from them that they were going to send out new sims or refund the money.

JohnDoe 05-03-2008 15:23

Some news for those who use GT-SIM.

New rates for outgoing calls 0,19 €Cent fixed, 0,29 €Cent mobile

INCOMING 0,19 €Cent (there will be no longer free incoming calls)

DID will be available also for various countries (incoming on DID 0,19 €Cent)

GT-SIM will be no longer use the Callkey platform. New SIM cards with UK numbers will issued beginning from 11/March/08.

I just took a look at their website ... and oh wonder :D ... a bunch of new numbers are available.

What happened? Is it x-mas?

I just logged in into one of our accounts on the website, does anybody know what "WAPCALL" does hide?

No, of the 07924s, ~5 and ~6 are Wire9, and the higher ones don't appear to be allocated yet.

easyroam- 13-03-2008 18:37

It not a callkey number range. 447924354xxx
wire 9 are using 447872

Nobody would expect it to be ex-Callkey, given GT SIM's comments this is a replacement

Out of 07872, only ~2 is Wire9, the rest except ~7 being O2. Wire9 also have 077000 as well as the 2 I mentioned before, but none of this is relevant

New GT SIM is active

Hej,

i recieved an new GT-SIM on Monday this week.
+44-7924-352784 according to a list about UK Providers
this Prefix belongs to MANX Telecom ;-) to me it seems
its the same platform that www.globalsim.de also uses ?

I tried the card on all 4 German mobile Networks and it works nice.
it even shows inbound CLI and outbound CLI as well.

The pricing is a bit better then Globalsim.de since GT-SIM
charges : 0,26 € to Landlines and 0,38 € to mobiles.

inbound calls are free in EU member states and in other states 0,38 €
per Minute.

Thomas
