UM+ voicemail is now up

At least until you call 077 to set it up. That will cost a bundle to do from here!

Just received this...

any other way?

Got the same newsletter.

Is there any OTHER way? With some services you can dial your mobile and press asterisk or hash and get in.

And what if I wait until next summer when I return to Europe where rates are more reasonable?

The same point I was going to make.....every other UM sim card I've had, you ring the number and press # to personalize with the temporary pin they provided....it's damn expensive to call from the USA......

Bossman 02-10-2007 19:44

Just called my number and got VM or well an announcement in another language. I think it's VM though.

MATHA531 02-10-2007 20:00

The language is German and from the little (very little I might add) German I understand it is saying this is the mailbox and then repeats the number and basically says, I think, that you are unavailable and to call back later.....pressing either * or # does no good; as they said you will have to call to activate voice mail from your handset and it does not seem possible to personalize the thing by calling the number and using the temporary password they put on the sim card carrier.

Hmmm vm might well be enabled but my sim appears to have deregistered itself. What with that and my IOM going under it is not a good day :-(

I called 070 to set the voicemail mailbox up. Got a message in German, asks you to press 2 for English.
Then was asked to choose a pin and enter it, followed by the hash key. All seemed straight forward once you had got the prompts speaking in English (-:

Bossman 02-10-2007 23:31

The initial message is in german. That will probably still make it difficult for those of us that do not know any german to continue. Do not plan on doing it from here anyway.

and again, that's fine but it costs an arm and a leg to call vm from North America so discrimination against North Americans again.

It says that the voice mail box has not been setup so you can't leave a message.

The good news is my call using VoipBuster only cost €.10

No...I understand...the point is I would like to set it up by calling the number, pressing the # key, entering the temporary pin code they sent and set it up that way...calling the voice mail number from the USA is too expensive and it would probably cost at least a 2 minute call...what they did wrong here is they sent everybody the same temporary pin number and are not allowing this...in the past you could set up UM voice mail by calling the UM number, pressing #, entering the last 4 digits of the PUK code as the temporary pin and setting it up...the current system was set up not to allow this.

Voipbuster shows the rate to UK Mobile as 18 eurocents. Am I looking in the wrong place?

bones_boy 03-10-2007 02:41

Cost me almost 7 euro for a 3.5 minute call. Grrr...

I think we talking past each other -- one commenter was unclear what the German message said, I was just trying to clarify. I too would like to be able to setup voice mail remotely, but I remember I had to wait until got to Europe to do something (turn on call divert?) when I first got the Riiing SIM. I had the same problem with Virgin UK -- I ended spending about half my credit trying to get it setup from the States. It that case I needed to because the party I was meeting in London had no other way to get a message to me if he was delayed.

As for the Voipbuster rates -- I know the website lists more, I'm just reported what was deducted from my account. It may be that they don't realize (yet) that the IoJ numbers a mobiles.

Its funny -- I was checking my CallBackWorld call detail: When I was in Germany last month I used it to my T-D1 number and I was charged as a callback to a landline. Not complaining

I was able to configure a voicemail PIN from Canada, but I can't figure out how to get voicemail to actually work. Setting up call forwarding/diverts to 077 didn't work. Ideas? (Perhaps it has to be enabled from Europe.)

Keighleyboy 03-10-2007 18:58

Now setup my Voicemail

Voicemail is only reached when the phone is off

When you do get through to leave a voicemail, you get cut off at the tone

Still a useless feature
