Who's in Violation of new EU roaming rules?
Have read several articles that on an eu web site, some telcoms that have not adopted the eu tariffs have had their reputations smeared:)
Among those prominently mentioned were O2, T Mobile and Vodafone in the UK; although I think they have mentioned the new tariffs; they were cited for failure to notify the eu of their new tariffs (I think they had to be announced by 31 July to be in effect by 30 August for those who opt in and for everybody unless they opt out by 30 September, subject to correction if I'm wrong. Interestingly enough, I have seen no mention by Virgin Mobile UK and Orange UK of lowered roaming tariffs. Have I missed something? |
O2 sent 2 text messages out, and have already introduced the lower tariff on 20th July

I don't think either Orange or Virgin Mobile have done anything yet. |
This is a table of the Italian situation...
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y3/...tariffa_en.gif I think only Wind and (maybe) UNO Mobile respect the law at 100%. The good side of Vodafone and UNO Mobile is that they added some non EU countries as well, like Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Norway, IoM, Jersey, Guernsey and Andorra. |
When I called Vodafone Greece CS on Tuesday (31st July, one day past the deadline) they had no idea what I was talking about but said they had heard "roaming charges might be reduced after September, it has not been decided".

pay attention that Tim has a 100 minutes limit!

Of UK networks, Virgin Mobile has not yet provided info to the EU, but the others are not in default http://ec.europa.eu/information_soci...k/index_en.htm |
Here's the article I based the original post on:
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ap/fn/5022285.html Perhaps I misunderstood....perhaps the link Andy posted has been updated since then... But no matter what, what's going on with Virgin Mobile (nothing on their web site yet either)... |
I'd like to see the new french tariffs after EU roaming rules
|
I keep hearing about this EU "name and shame" website showing compliance around menber states. However, search as I might, I have been unable to find it, and the URL is not given in any news reports I've seen. Anyone know it?

With 'Passport' you can call from abroad as if you are in Greece with only 1€ added per call. Alternatively from 29/8/2007 speak for only 0,58€ with one call to 13830 (Vodafone Customer Care). I might give them a call to see what it's all about. |
Passport is an european tariff created by Vodafone to call from abroad with the same own national tariff with 1 euro added. It's not bad even if it's very expensive to call only few minutes

I think that some tariffs are not compliant with Eurotariff (the maximum amount should be 58,6 and 28,7 cents, but some operators decided to ask 59 and 29 cents a minute).:nono: |
Great Transatel!! Only 46 cent/minute. Very good.

If you looked at copies of the ERG info I saw, you'd be surprised anyone sent stuff in on time. |

On Wednesday the ERG sent out a second release of some guidelines. These are also available on their website until September 5. It contains such bureaucratic masterpieces as this:

And this is nearly a month after the deadline for the networks sending in the tariffs ... |
