airBalticCard - another Travelsim, I suppose

I'm flying with AirBaltic on the 1st of may from Lithuania, and just looking on their site I saw a banner of this card:
http://www.airbalticcard.com/
It really looks like a Travelsim rebrand for their Latvian neighbours. Anyway after the bad adventure of RyanAir it's now the time for AirBaltic, but with a much more reliable offer...

I just noticed that the SIM-card is a bit cheaper if you buy it at AirBaltic. I'm tempted to get such a card for use in Russia. with 39ct and free inbound it looks like a really good offer.

Yeah, it's cheap and also the shipping has a very "honest" price... I could buy one for you on the plane on the 1st of May, but I think you'd spend the same for shipping so it's easier to buy directly from them...

Great tip.

Thanks Effendi.. nice suggestion
Strange fact: incoming calls in Italy are free with Travelsim and 9 cent/min with Airbaltic (as it was some months ago with Travelsim)... it's just a delay in updating the website?

Effendi 18-04-2007 18:13

Yeah, I suppose they didn't update with the new rates...

I took an AirBaltic flight from Vilnius yesterday and they were NOT selling any international sim-card on the airplane... no sign of it on their catalogue, just good Lithuanian beer! :D

navinkv 28-05-2007 07:20

is there any setupcall charges?

Effendi 28-05-2007 14:36

No, Travelsim has no set-up charge.

Own experience with Airbaltic Card

Hello,

i've got an airBalticcard from www.callfrom.de which is a specialised dealer for inernational SIMs, Calling-Cards etc. in germany (Homepage in German)

Price was 12,95 EUR for the pure SIM-Card with Account 0,00 EUR
Shipping Costs war 0,90 Euro (intra Germany) or registered letter ("Einwurfeinschreiben") for 2,50 EUR (intra Germany)

Top-Up-Voucher at 10 Euros-Value (other amounts optional)

SIM-Card was shipped with 0 Euro Balance, but can be reached for incoming calls at once.

PIN/PUK and Phone-Number are printed on the big SIM-Card-Frame
Account is valid for 2 Years after top-up.

Textmessages from the AirBaltic Mobile 35 Euro-Cents
SMS via webtool to other AirBaltic Customers should be free of charge.

Voicemail
can switched on by calling 091
can switched off by calling 090

voicemail seems to be under construction, stored announcements or messages disappeared, when testing it.

Calling of numbers goes as usual via SIM-Toolkit (SAT).
According to your used phone you take the SIM-Special-Menü called "AirBalticCard" or the Phone "changes the Call" and brings you the Call back which is signalled with your own Air-Baltic-Number +372-53-......

If using stone-aged-phones, you can dial *146*0049301234567# SEND (if you should call the number 1234567 in Berlin(Germany) "+" for international calls are not possible with this code.

My SIM-card arrived with deactivated PIN Code (you rean reactivate it)
Call forwarding to voicemail was off.

Top Up:
By scratch card. the code will entered in the SIM-Toolkit-Menu

You can buy 10 Euros, callfrom.de will sent the codes by e-mail or short Text (SMS) or Fax.

Topup via Homepage and credit card should be possible (I didn't test this)

Tariffs:

Outgoing Calls
to Germany (Fixed/Mobile) 0,50 Euro charged by the minute
to Liechtenstein mobile (+423-663) as announced 1,64 EUR

Customer Care

offical Airbalticcard CustomerCare was sporadic available on the phone, supported-Languages are eesti, russian or english.
Support from callfrom.de (in german) was excellent.

Effendi 10-10-2007 14:32

It's a Travelsim, nothing new.
