I know this has been discussed several times here. But, I just want to ask if anyone has been succesful trying any other means to end the call. Such as pressing ##, etc.

I had my voicestick number forwarded to my GlobalSim(+447624). I plan on using this setup on my trip in a couple of weeks. But, the 3 test calls I made today of which only one connected, and I hung up while it was ringing, were each charged for 6 minutes. I know we do get refunded by calling CS (I guess they can look at their system and see if the calls connected or not). I had to do it last week. Because the test calls I made last week were charged somewhere between 1 - 6 minutes. Some did not connected and I hung up while the rest were ringing.

So, if anyone knows what else can be tried by the user to signal the end of the call, let me know.

The problem is are you going to tell every single possible caller what they have to do to end the call.

Personally, it's a shame because voicestick has great rates and at least the caller hears please wait while we connect your call and not a lot of silence which makes them think the call has not gone through.

I just can't comprehend that this has been going on so long and they can't figure out how to fix it.....I don't know any other carrier where this has even been a problem let alone a problem whose solution has eluded them.

Now again, in all fairness, they have refunded every single call where this has happened but not only does it affect the account with voicestick, I get long messages on my voice mail of silence and have to figure out the code for each separate voice mail of how to terminate the message.....

Again there has to be somebody technologically savy either working for them or whatever who can figure out what the hell is going on and why this can't be fixed.

MATHA531, exactly what does the caller have to do to make sure the call ends? Pressing ## does not seem to work. I tried it and still got charged for 6 minutes for calls that did not even connect.

BTW, I reported this to them last week but still have not been refunded...not a big deal, but I just want them to fix the damn issue! Traveling next week and plan on using this setup. Only my family and a couple of business associates will be given the number anyway.

I wish I knew.....but there is some guy named Bruce who frequents these halls who has been very helpful.....Bruce...what gives....why can't you get this fixed? You are just about the only mobile phone company I've had this problem with.

Im glad theres a thread on this already because I ran into this problem earlier today when a 3min call to lima-cell got billed for like 7mins. The issue is not weather they would fix the billing errors once they are brought to their attention but the fact that noone wants to watch over their bill like a hawk. And, as an earlier pointed out, no other company seems to have this problem. Alot of people want to use voicestick BUT GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER.

As I mentioned in my other thread, there's no need for Voicestick-to-Manx forwarding. Skype will forward a call to Manx mobiles at 2c a minute ! - Skype (for now), still sees Manx mobiles as a standard UK landline (sshhh).

Yeah, $38 a year.... oooooh.... real expensive for reliability ... I save that in a couple of days roaming in Europe, between 2c and 17c, or whatever it is on Voicestick, plus the overage from VS never releasing the call :o In addition, you get a local number where you want, which is cheaper for some people to call you.

C'mon -- I offer a very nice, viable suggestion, and you have to find something wrong with it?

As well, this is coming from someone, whose country's cell providers, from my travels, seem to charge the most of any country around :wacko:

I just wanted to remind of the extra costs involved.
And noone knows when Skype will realize its billing mistake and charge you the regular 29 cent a minute to the UK cellphones...

Actually it is 25c a minute to UK mobiles, if you're registered in the USA (meaning no VAT is added -- I confirmed it on my statement)

I signed up with voicestick and get many times server anavailable from the softphone. Is this somethink usual or not; Any experiences;

What about the biblling probles; Are they solved;

Hi group!

One of you guys nailed exactly what the problem is. If you are calling a cell phone and you hang up JUST BEFORE the voicemail would answer you get a 6 minute bill.

What we see is this. If you hang up AFTER the voicemail answers, then we terminate the call without any problems, BUT in that very few second period where you think you have hung up, there is a split second where the VM now answers, and holds the call open for 5 min. (billed out at 6 minutes with rounding)

We do not have a fix. Best workaround is to let voice mail answer and then hangup. Worst case is you get a 1 min billing and in many cases that won't happen as we do not start to bill until 31 seconds has gone by in the call placement process.

Also, we work on the honor system over here as we know 99% of our customer are honest folk. If you email customercare@i2telecom.com and say you need a $1 or $2 credit for several calls that got hit, we will gladly post a credit. No need to call or write a long story.
