Interesting nuggets:

"the inactivity period is 90 days, after which you'll be charged £2 monthly fee that could be avoided by making a call or sending a text." - that's good.

"data is charged per session in 100KB increments. Minimum charge is 100KB, that is 10c in the USA and 5p in the UK." - that's not so good, big chunk.

not website?

I got a Truphone Local Anywhere simcard with British number (+44.7408xxxxxx).
I just sent an SMS to Andrea but it seems he didn't receive it... I was billed € 0.12 while on the website they state SMS cost € 0.11, but I suppose the didn't include VAT...
I sent another SMS to Przemolog now, let's see if he gets it...

It seems there are some little problems with SMS...
I sent 2:
- destination 3 ITA (number ported from Wind): never received
- destination Orange PL: received, but reply rejected (yet billed by Orange)

Other tests going on, no very good results...
SMS with mobiSMS to my Truphone: OK, arrived at once
SMS from Truphone to Wind Italy number (no ported number): failed (not billed yet)

I did some data testing too. I downloaded/uploaded 117,26KB of data (Nokia log) and I was billed € 0.32. That means about € 2.80/MB, quite higher than € 1.50/MB such as written on their website. The connection through Vodafone IT HSPA network was fast and with no problems...

P.S. Truphone in Italy roams on TIM and Vodafone networks only, both 2G and 3G. No connection with Wind and 3 Ita.

It really seems there are quite a lot of issues in SMS sending & receiving.
I also copy/paste here what I wrote by e-mail to your customer service.

Here are the problems I had after really few tests.
- SMS to Italian number (operator 3, former Wind number): never received (but billed)
- SMS to Italian number (operator Wind): never received (and not billed)
- SMS to Italian number (operator Vodafone): OK
- SMS to Polish number (operator Orange): OK
- SMS from Polish number (operator Orange): never received
- SMS from mobiSMS service: OK
- SMS from Italian number (operator Vodafone): never received
- SMS from Italian number (operator Wind): never received

All outgoing SMS in Italy have been billed € 0.12 instead of € 0.11.

I have yet to receive my Truphone SIM card... Ordered it on Mar 14th. I guess Canada Post is sloooow.

I have one of our testing and development team looking into the problems, and they may well be in touch directly. I believe we have a number of issues specifically affecting Italy currently, but they will be able to confirm.
