I guess I will switch now to CBW

But the question remains, how much longer will CBW stay at 14?/minute???? Since it is apparent they use the same internet lines to set up the callbacks either enlinea just went bonkers to increase prices or their providers raised the price which presumably would mean CBW is next.

You know guys, be careful with what you post. I just got back from my annual trip in January and covered Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, France and the UK..and when I read the board while on holiday I was horrified and stopped using enlinea and went with cbw.

I just checked the on line billing and am looking at it right now...when using riiing to access a number in the USA you are charged from Liechtenstein to the USA...my online billing clearly shows I was charged 12?/minute as late as 09 January; as a matter of fact I used the Iceland number (O9?) on enlinea and was billed 10?/minute to call from Iceland (no matter where I was roaming) to the United States....please be careful to make sure you are posting correct information....looking at my bill right now on 09 January I called from riiing to a US toll free number (irrelevent to the billing) for 4 minutes 12 seconds and was charged 51? US....I stopped using enlinea and went to CBW based on what I had read....

My last call on enlinea was on 15 January from the Iceland number (country code 354) to a USA toll free number, exactly 3 minutes for 30? US....

Don't know where you guys got the 42? nonsense from (USA to Liechtenstein?)...the calls guys are Liechtenstein to the USA (or Iceland to the USA with the other sim)....

BTW for the record, both enlinea and cbw for the most part functioned fairly well, couple of non callbacks and bad connections but many of the connections were excellent.

Part of the confusion is caused because the various callback companies show different rates for landlines and mobiles, but 09 in particular is currently mostly charged at landline rates (i.e. a billing error - nice, but may not last).

I thought I'd got the best callback deal to the 09 phone with CBW (11.3c/min) but looks likes enlinea is currently better. However, CBW is charging 09 as a landline, but if they start charging it as a mobile it goes up to 15c (and enlinea goes up to 18c which would put CBW back in the lead).

Globalphone (which was more reliable) charged me 14.7c/min (to UK), the landline rate, but if they charged it as a mobile it would jump to 54c!

So basically the only answer is try a test call and check online billing (and then recheck from time to time in case numbers get reclassified as mobiles!).

Did you manage to make outgoing calls with the 09 phone, or did you have to use a second phone to trigger the callback? Did the 092 "check balance" work anywhere?

BTW as I said in another thread, O9 did not register in Switzerland; haven't checked their web site if Switzerland is listed as a roaming location.

Anyway, as I remember, I had to use another phone to trigger the o9 and I did not make any outgoing calls per se with O9.

I know its not a CBW thread and I'll probably post this elsewhere, but....

CBW is really highly unreliable lately. It used to work pretty well in Germany but now can't even get call backs here. Hopeless in the rest of the world. Once in a while it comes through, but the vast majority of the time over the last two weeks I"ve gotten no call backs when triggering the number. The few times it works the quality of the call is poor and nearly unusuable. I've had to use by Riiing card straight through almost all the time.

I was hoping the Enlinea would work better but it sounds like its either no deal or works equally bad as CBW. Oh well, it was a good idea and maybe will work better in the future. For now, don't hold your breath.

O9 doesn't list Switzerland as a roaming country. Odd!

So O9 didn't work for making calls anywhere? There seem to be conflicting reports as to what countries it works in (if any) for outgoing calls (I'm limited to only two countries to test it in at the moment, doesn't work in either of these - USA/Mex).

O9 is good deal with callback (and a second phone) while callbacks to Iceland +354 3 remain low cost.

Difficult to see how they can sustain a business though when no outbound calls are possible (but maybe it's intentional, to give them time until they can work out how to do recharges...)

Enlinea just changed the rates probably in the last few days. I am 100% sure it was 42 cents about a week ago or so. The rates that andy posted above were 100% correct as of that date. I went to the website and verified it. I bet if you ask somepne at Enlinea the'll probably tell you that it may have been changed in error or so.

When I saw the post sometime around 09 January I did go to the enlinea web site and checked to verify what was being said and indeed I did see 42?....but what I don't remember was whether I was checking Liechtenstein to USA or USA to Liechtenstein...USA to Liechtenstein did come across on one call as 42? on a call I made using the enlinea 800 service (I was trying to clear out voicemail from the callback calls on enlinea and cbw which didn't reach me...I use it once a trip to avoid the 9 month rule and after that don't).

Oh well...let's not kick a gift horse in the mouth.

I don't know...I found cbw and enlinea to both be pretty reliable on this past trip although several times I had to resort to the 2nd phone to trigger calls.
