Okay, it's been 18 days since I orderd my UM+ free upgrade. Nothing received yet. Didn't sound like it took most of you this long to get the card. Any word that they've stopped shipping or are backlogged or any other problem? Thanks.

18 days is a little long. I think it took about 12 for me to get the replacement SIM.

Nevermind... heard from home it arrived. Thanks to those that answered.

Perhaps they've got enough guinea pigs to test the new service now?

Steve :)

Just back from a week in London....just for the hell of it, I took my new UM+ sim card just to run it through its paces...

1. Sent a text message from a T Mobile US sim and it worked......

2. Called my UK mobile number from it and it worked (didn't answer the call) as did caller ID.

3. Reversed it called with my UK mobile to UM+ and it worked...and so did caller ID.

4. Making sure my T Mobile US had de-registered from its roaming partner, called my US T Mobile sim card form UM+ and it worked as did caller ID.

I didn't allow any of the calls to be completed so I have no idea of quality of calls but everything seems to be working...of course using it in the UK to call the USA is silly as I picked up a free T Mobile UK sim card and can call the USA for 3p/minute using your call by ringing 07755 220 220 and upon being answered entering the number I am calling with the international calling code 00 and ending with # and yes indeed I was billed 3p/minute off my T Mobile UK prepaid...can't do much better than that even with a calling card (no I don't bring my lap top with me...bloody UK carry on restrictions which are really onerous and seem to be done only in the UK not allowing me to carry my lap top in addition to the one carry on...absolutely idiotic so can't use the voip carriers which may be even cheaper but who can really complain about calling the USA from the UK for 3p/minute)....hopefully I will now be able to use the UM+ service for my next trip in January having let my Dutch sim expire when I'll be in Amsterdam..

Of course the negative still remains the lack of voicemail and the message the number does not exist when a caller dials with the phone off..that indeed is irksome...also cbw and enlinea rates are in the vicinity of 40¢ or more to UK mobiles; highway robbery if you ask me....but fingers crossed O9 still works for outgong...incoming will be on UM+ with my verizon call forwarding charging me for calls to UK mobiles (although I am tempted to use call forwarding to a toll free enlinea number which is relatively cheap)...

What is this 07755.... number for making cheap calls via UK TM SIM? Since I'm on a grandfathered U.S. TMobile plan for intl. roaming, incoming is only 30 cents. For outgoing, calls i might try to use my TM UMA/wifi service which would mean calls to U.S. would be free. (Might have to be in UK next week.).

I just managed to do the free upgrade, so it is still going on. If you DON'T select a signature number, picking your own number from the list, then it will give you a random number and the cost is free. This was confirmed with UM, so free upgrade still is going on. I can transfer whatever amount of my balance I like to the new card, keeping the old one active as well.

Just came back from my trip to Georgia and Armenia... In Armenia UM+ doesn't work, but in Georgia it worked just for a couple of days, then it was impossible to make any call. It worked only on Geocell network, both 2g and 3g. I tried using the menu, but nothing changed. Travelsim always worked well in both countries, even if in Armenia there was quite a big delay in conversation. Perfect with SMS.
All ok in Germany at Munich airport with both the simcards (and my Simyo, of course, in 3G :))

Currently in St. Thomas USVI via a cruise that also stopped in Aruba, Cuaraco, St. Martin/Marteen. It left out of Puerto Rico. The UM+ sim worked in all places and including the Ships's network. This network kicks in/is turned on when not at port. So, coverage is 24/7. Juggled between UM+ sim and my IOM sim freeGlobalsim depending on the situation. Calls to my cingular mobile were forwarded to the UM+ sim via voicestick. Caller ID worked about 50% of the time.

The USVI and Puerto Rico happen to be covered as part of nationwide calls by US carriers, so I am able to make and receive calls and use data as I am tethering (use my mobile as a modem with my laptop) with my cingular sim at the moment, as if I am in the US.
