DNS and WIND on google brought up the following adresses which you can try:

dns.wind.it 212.245.255.2
dns2.wind.it 212.245.158.66
dns.inwind.it 212.141.53.123
dns2.wind.it 212.245.158.66

There's no need to put the DNS, they should be recognized automatically. Just use the APN internet.wind, nothing else is needed.
For the Codice Fiscale it's a problem, you ALWAYS need it, for example to register with 155.it which is very useful.

Hi,

I just returned from Rome and I had no problems at all with the Wind Prepaid card. Thanks again for the great service you are offering
I still have one question: before I left Italy I sent a SMS to cancel my mega no limit option. When I check my credit at 155.it I still have the option listed with the remaining balance. How do I know, if the otion is canceled or will renew at 29th of July.

Any help is appreciated.

It should be deactivated after the 30 days. Did you receive an SMS confirming the deactivation? (I'm not sure if it must arrive, but it would be logical....)

I have the same problem : I received my Wind in June and, as my french data offer was valid untill yesterday, I only activated the PASS option, to make a test. (It works fine - thank you Andrea!)

Next month, I want to activate the MEGA NO LIMIT option, so I sent an SMS to cancel the PASS, and I haven't received any confirmation. The PASS is still listed and there is no date shown in "Data Disattivazione".

I was wondering if I had not done it correctly, but it seems that I'm not the only one...

I'll send a request to Customer Care and keep you informed...

Buirunus Effendi,

After my try to activate a GPRS from a 155.it website, I've got a next answer:
Quote:

Variazione del Contratto - Attivazione GPRS di Wind

ATTENZIONE!!!!

Impossibile proseguire con l'attivazione del servizio, in quanto il suo contratto ? attualmente in lavorazione.
Is somth. wrong I did? and how to manage it, since I'm outside Italy allready?

Thank you.

Effendi 26-07-2006 10:59

You just have to wait a bit since it seems your sim-card is not active yet...

growler 28-07-2006 16:49

a76. Great instructions! Thanks for putting that together.

I'm using the WIND data service in Canada using the Rogers network. I first setup and had the data service running on my Ericsson T39m using the dialout number *99***1#. However, when I tried to use the data service using my Audivox SMT5600 (Orange SPV C500), I could not connect without using dialout number *99#. The dialing string I use for both phones is +CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet.wind"

One other user, flaminghomer, had indicated that on his phone (not sure what it is), he was using the *99***1# number, but, his dialing string was AT+CGDCONT=2,IP,internet.wind

I'm still trying to understand why the Audiovox can't use the *99***1# number and had to use the *99# number.

Has anything changed?

I just checked. Unfortunately no 3G with any networks in Greece.

umts_roaming 02-08-2006 19:19

someone know when the new Mega no limit 15000 option will be available? I read something about July 24th but obviously it has not been activated by WIND

andy_traveller 04-08-2006 03:52

Hi all

Just to say I am now in Shanghai and both China Unicom and China Mobile do not work with my Wind Sim (Mega no limit data) but my UK Virgin sim allows me to go online using UK Virgin GPRS settings with China Mobile so it would seem Wind have not come to any agreement with either of these 2 networks.

If anyone has a way of getting the Mega No limit option working within China please post ASAP.

cheers

This is true. Not only Wind, it's impossible for any italian mobile customers to have GPRS roaming in China :(

I was in Germany and UK for a few weeks. The WIND GPRS access worked great! Great to have that Internet access while I was on the road. Also surprised to see how well GPRS access continued to work even though I was travelling at 130kph on the Autobahn (wife was driving :)).

I had a couple of questions:
i) Anyone know if WIND based GPRS access is available in South Africa? It's not listed at http://www.prepaidgsm.net/forum/inde...showtopic=1268
ii) If I cancel my MEGA NO LIMIT now, can I leave my WIND 'contract' idle for the next few months? The intention is to add the funds to my WIND account and resubscribe to MEGA NO LIMIT when I start travelling again.

Thanks

Effendi 28-08-2006 19:59

Officially there's no GPRS roaming in South Africa, but Wind's site is never updated, so it could work even if I have some doubts about it...

You can leave the card idle, just remember to refill it at once once every 11 months (using also O2 top ups) and make a call/send an SMS once every 3 months.

A very small GPRS session also works and can be done for less than 10cts.

Effendi 29-08-2006 08:48

Oh yes, true, GPRS is even better.

edmund 01-09-2006 14:22

Has anyone had any luck with the credit card top-up for WIND? It allowed 2 credits in June but since has rejected all my orders - the details were exactly the same.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Edmund

andy_traveller 06-09-2006 18:35

Hi all

Just to say the 40497 network (is that it's real name?) in India works with the Wind sim mega no limit option.

Might help someone who might be travelling this way at some point...

Effendi 06-09-2006 22:57

Network name: Bharti Cellular Ltd.
MCC / MNC: 404 / 97

Good to know! :)
What part of India were you?

andy_traveller 07-09-2006 12:43

This is in the North of India in the state of Utranchal (Himalayan foothills) but will be testing it for the next 10 days or so over to the west of India too!

Hi Edmund, I just wrote by email but I reapet on the forum. When you have troubles with MondoWind.it (and this is very usual :ranting2: ) try to change credit card... usually an AmEx credit card can resolve everything.

Can you point me to Wind's webpage that shows which country/provider roaming is enabled?

I found this link on the web http://www.gsmworld.com/roaming/gsminfo/roa_itw2.shtml Says who the roaming partners are but not necessary what is enabled.

http://estero.wind.it but they 'forgot' to write a lot of details... this is the OFFICIAL website for int.l roaming but it's not so useful :(

It's better to look at our unofficial page...

Thanks,

Have you had any luck in topping up? I've tried both my Visa and American Express credit card without any luck. Though I always get an email stating that a payment has been submitted, I now don't even get a confirmation that my payment was denied.

Anyone know what other options I might have to top-up my account? Is it possible to contact WINDs customer service and make a payment?

No, it's only possible to top-up in Italy with scratch cards or ATM, while outside Italy you can use scratch cards of O2 and some other operators (if they are present in your country) or by credit card only through Mondowind.

If it doesn't work there's probably some problem with the fiscal code... ask AndreA for more information, I'm not expert about this much...

growler 14-09-2006 22:04

If someone purchases an O2 top-up card for me in the UK, do you know if I can add the funds to my WIND account when I'm in Canada? Or does the top-up only work when your in the country where the top-up card was purchased.

I've tried four different credit cards and I'm quickly running out of options :( I might try to contact the bank of one of the credit cards to see if they can ease up on any security checks when transactions arise from WIND. I'm not sure if that will work as I'm uncertain why the transaction is cancelled.

I don't think my 'fiscal code' is incorrect as I'm using the same one that I had used before to top-up the account a couple of months ago.

andy_traveller 15-09-2006 03:52

Just to say I logged into mondowind and clicked on recharge yesterday and everything went fine for me with a visa card...

petar258 18-09-2006 20:39

I dont have any problem with recharging of wind sim card. I used Master Card.

No, O2 UK refill cards must be used in UK, O2 Germany in Germany and so on...

growler 08-11-2006 20:16

It looks like the ride (MEGA no limit option) is now over ... http://www.prepaidgsm.net/forum/inde...showtopic=1685

I was never able to add funds to my WIND account.
