As I mentioned quickly before the Mega 15000 tariff isn't "so" bad even at the new prices for using when roaming at EUR 30 for +/- 16MB. In Belgium the cheapest and only prepaid GPRS deal is EUR 18 for 10MB and that's for use only in Belgium! So, as my mega-no-limit renews on 19/11/06 before this date I'd like to cancel the current option and activate the Mega 15000.

Will simply sending the "MEGA NO" and then the "MEGA 15000 SI" SMS now sort all this out for 19/11/06? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Yes... you have to send "MEGA NO" before the last day (you can send it today) and you have to send the new sms for mega 15000 after that day. Maybe it's better the day later.

ticex 08-11-2006 20:40

Thanks Andrea....a great help! I'll sort that out just now...

jdrouven 09-11-2006 10:06

Hi,

I am using the Mega 300 data option and due to the increase of prices I wanted to cancel it. Therefor I sent an SMS to 4533 with MEGA 300 NO in it. I got an SMS in return, that I don't understand, because it is in Italian. Please help me to translate it:
Le abbiamo accreditata il bonus di 300 euro da utilizzare in 30gg per traffica dati. Per conoscere il credito disponibile vada su www.155.it o chiami il 4242.

To me it sounds like the same message I received when avtivating the data option. Is this normal or do I have a problem now?

Thanks for your help.

AndreA 09-11-2006 10:56

hi jdrouven... that SMS is informing you that you have another month with that option :(

Maybe you sent later the deactivation SMS... :( So you have to wait another month... yhe only nice thing is that unilt 04 Dec. you can use the old tariff.

ticex 10-11-2006 05:18

I cancelled the Mega-no-limit last night by sending the SMS and received another SMS today informing me the option was now cancelled. However, I did have another 10 days left to use up the remaining credit which now seems to have been lost as the credit no longer appears on 155.it! It also seems todays data use (+/- ?5) has been deducted from my normal credit. I'd just assumed that the mega-no-limit would stay on my account until the end of the paid for period. Anyway, not a big problem as I've now activated the Mega 15000 via 155.it so hopefully that will be up and running in time for the weekend when I will be depending on Wind for data access in Poland.

So, a word of warning to anybody considering switching to the Mega 15000...time it better than me as you could end up losing out!

If Wind failed, you can use in Poland a sim named iPlus simdata. It's data rates are 0.075 EUR/MB GPRS, 0.75 EUR/MB WAP over GPRS, 0.08EUR/min CSD. Cost and inital credit is 20 PLN (about 5 EUR) so the inital credit is enough for about 66 MB. EDGE and UMTS are available. The only problem may be availbility of the sim - it's available mainly from Plus delares which might be closed on 11th Nov (national holiday).

ticex 10-11-2006 17:22

Thanks for that tip...that Polish sim sounds very interesting. Is there a limited validity on it - ie. does it have to be topped up by a certain amount every now and then? If it lasts like a year I might just grab one to use in Poland as I will be visiting every month or two in the future.

For this visit I'm sorted though....I got the SMS a short while ago saying the Wind Mega 15000 was now active on my account. However, the credit still doesn't show up on 155.it but I've made a couple of short connections and they don't seem to be coming from my remaining EUR 3.50 of standard credit so it's all good! :D

This is it:
http://www.prepaidgsm.net/en/polonia/iplus.html
The only incorrect on the above page infos are: international SMS is now 0.61 PLN and not available in Karen Notebook shops any more.
SIM is valid for a year since the moment outgoing calls expire or the credit drops to zero. The downsides are: very expensive voice calls, no voice mail, no roaming (even for incoming sms).

What city are you going to visit in Poland? If I know, I'll be able to locate dealers that sell iPlus simdata and are open next weekend.

ticex 10-11-2006 19:15

Thanks so much for the info! Really a great help B)

I'm going first to my friends place in Leszno tomorrow night then for work on Monday to Poznan, Tuesday to Wroclaw and Wednesday back to Poznan. Leszno is a bit out in the countryside but when I was there in July EDGE was working very well with the Wind mega-no-limit on Plus and I even had a SIP phone working over it at one point!

The coverage maps are very good...really nice to see an operator actually clearly show where they have EDGE. Back in the UK I don't even think the network CS people even know what EDGE is let alone be able to tell you where or if they have coverage! For the moment I actually prefer EDGE to UMTS as it doesn't zap the battery life of the handset as much, suffers less from dropped connections and for pure internet access seems just about as fast. Of course here in Belgium I've been told Proximus now has the UMTS network up to 1.8MB/s providing you use a compatible handset but as my Nokia N70 only supports 384 KB/s UMTS it's not such a big jump over EDGE rates.

Sounds like a great trip. I spent a few days in the are a while back - the Old Town of Poznan is beautifully rebuilt, and there was a terrific restaurant on one of the corners of the square (I remember big wooden doors, and I think it was downstairs).

Have fun.

I'll PM you some the most probable addresses when you can buy iPlus. The lists of dealers produced by the locator on iplus site are quite long but in fact they may be out of sims at the moment. My brother who bought an iPlus sim in Wroclaw a few weeks ago, had to go to the official Plus salon. The iPlus sims aren't so popular as Simplus or Sami Swoi ones :)

1.8 MB/s - do you mean HSDPA? It's available in Poland in Era (so far a few largest cities including Poznan and Wroclaw) and I suppose Wind would roam in Era 3G as well. However, there are no so good data prepaid plans Era and Orange as iPlus in Plus :(.

flodis79 04-12-2006 12:28

Any first-hand expericences with the new data roaming rates? Is it implemented from today - what stories do you have?

ticex 04-12-2006 22:09

I was using my wind mega-15000 today in Poland. I've just logged into the 155.it site and as an example my last data sessions were charged as shown below. By my reckoning it seems everything is being charged at the old tariff of EUR 15/MB. Perhaps the rate increase starts from tomorrow with 4/12/06 being the final day of the old rate? Either that or Wind are being exceptionally disorganised and haven't implemented it yet or maybe they forgot (maybe a bit overly wishful thinking!).

You mean that they are, or you are?

I'm with the right network ...

flodis79 05-12-2006 13:11

Seeing that Wind billing cycles for data run every hour, it should be clear quite soon if the new rate is applied today. Have a data session open at the moment.

DaveRo 06-12-2006 10:29

I don't think I've had an SMS warning of increased rates. I'm not sure though; I get 2 SMS every time my mega 300 is topped up and I deleted the last ones (27th November) before I saw this thread and without reading them closely. They looked like the normal ones though.

A GPRS sesion yesterday (in the UK) is still debiting at the old rates.

Could this be because I only started using Wind & mega 300 fairly recently - in July?

Dave

ticex 06-12-2006 13:58

I also did a couple of test sessions yesterday and they were debited at the old rates as well.

I think this is completely down to Wind being disorganised so it could go on for a matter of weeks or a matter of years.....who knows :P

andy 06-12-2006 18:40

maybe I'd better top up my unused one, just in case it stays cheap after all

Did u try again?

Unfortunately I was in Denmark last week but I returned at home before 4th December... so I had the correct old tariff, but I can imagine that you have yet the old. I know Wind...

ticex 11-12-2006 01:03

I've used the Wind in Poland, Germany, Netherlands and now Belgium the past 3 days and I can confirm it is still charging at the OLD rate. Here is a copy of the billing for the last sessions:

I will tell you tomorrow morning.. Have not use the Wind today, but will do it now and hopefully it will be in the log tomorrow or even later tonight..

I saw somebody on telefon-treff.de who got the new rate now.. What about people here on the board?

flodis79 17-12-2006 18:10

The data connections I made Friday haven't appeared on 155.it yet.. Is it slow for everybody?

AndreA 17-12-2006 18:43

yes, we are close to Xmas and maybe they are slower thanks to the high traffic

DaveRo 23-12-2006 09:08

The rate seems to have changed for me now

Last 2 data sessions:
22/12/2006 11:28:51 SC*** Traffico Internet -- Connessione dati GPRS -- 116043 Byt. 101,990913
09/12/2006 16:02:32 SC*** Traffico Internet -- Connessione dati GPRS -- 448651 Byt. 6,572036

Totale importo delle chiamate: 127,272534

I interpret that to mean that the last session cost €101 (€.088/Kb) and that I've used €127 this month

But out of my €300 Mega 300 balance I still have €261 remaining according to the Mega 300 balance page.

From which I conclude:
- the cost has gone up
- there's a fault in the billing system (or I'm getting a discount!)

Merry Christmas

Dave

Can you do this test? Send a SMS to 4155 (it's free from abroad too) writing "SALDO"... you'll receive a SMS where you can check every your bundle (in this case Mega300), so you can tell us your remaining credit :)

GPRS Wind abroad: new prices in February

Thanks to WindWorld we knew that Wind will change their GPRS prices abroad the next month (well, Wind changed their roaming prices at all... for voice and sms too)

We will have a (little bit) cheaper price in Zone 1 and 2, while in the rest of the World it will be more expensive.

1.25c/kB against 0.5p or 0.3p GB or 0.3c CH doesn't look too good

1.25c/kb is a very good price when you use data on the mega no limit or 15000 options... It's even better prices than before in zones 1 and 2. Used to be 1.5c/kb and now it's 1.25c/kb.

So what will the exact data transfer allowances be in zone 1 on mega no limit?

I'm sorry, what do you mean? In the table that Andrea is quoting above, the new data roaming rate will be 1.25c/kb in zone 1, DOWN from 1.5/kb pre-December 2006..
So I guess it will be around 300 MB download on mega no limit starting February 2007? Or am I mistaken?
