Further testing by me:

1. The ID doesn't show up on calls. It does show up in the form of a text msg. on unansered calls, and is vocalized by the VM system when you pick up a msg.

2. The system does NOT notify you when you have a msg. waiting! It does take messages fine. They are date stamped GMT.

3. The vice quality when calling VM does not seem as good as making regular calls.

4. Phone that is called rings in less than 3 seconds. Your Yackie phone immediately generates a virtual ringing and a voice that repeats a couple times that "you are connecting".

5. If phone is off, calls go to VM INSTANTLY. No ring.

Chris - I just bought 3 new L6 phones - 2 for me, one for someone else. They are fine for me - EXCEPT - they only store 5 voice dialling numbers! I can keep one, but I need voice dialling on my main phone. My 3+ y.o. phone has 10 or 15 voice dialed numbers stored, and I think the V330 I just "gave" to a member here could store more than 5. I am not happy.
I didn't realize they had this limitation until i started programming in the numbers last nite.

If you want a brand new L6 quad-band (unlocked) - PM me. (It works fine w. my Yackie SIM<G>.)

Chris

I'd suggest the Motorola phones over the mystery manufacturer phone. I have an unlocked v3 razr flip-phone in black and am quite pleased with it. Works perfectly with either a callback sim or a country specific prepaid sim. Small, well made, lots of features, reasonably priced. The L series phones are also quality handsets. The Motorola PC software and cable that usually comes with either phone is also very easy to install and use and can save you some money (I can transfer photos/videos/wallpaper/ringers directly to/from my PC).

money69 27-07-2006 06:31

Can anyone please tell me how long shipments are currently running from the time ordered until receipt? Also, is it possible to view call logs via the web? I thought I read in another thread that their web functionality was not functional yet, anyone know what features will be available via web when its launched?

Thanks

Thanks for your advice,
The V3 is on sale for around 210$ here or slightly less 2nd hand.
Personally I perfer bar phones thats why i also looked at the L7 - which is a bit more expensive.

Lets see who will have faster delivery :-)

All the same here Snidely.

The one I would really like to have is the VM notification. I don't want to be calling VM often and burning up credit, to see if I have a message. I have already informed Cizake about this, and he mentioned that he has forwarded a ticket to the Tech team. So, you may want to do the same Snidely. Since, it's working for some and not for others.

Money69, The viewing of call logs via the web is not available yet. According to Cizake, it should be available soon.

I placed my order on 11/07. As I had received nothing on 21/07, I emailed Cizake. He answered that it had been sent on 20/07 and that I should receive it on Monday 24/07. I haven't received it yet - and I'm travelling on Sunday, so I think I will travel without the SIM card I ordered for my travel...

Bossman 27-07-2006 17:00

Ask Cizake for a tracking #. He sent one to all of us that ordered from here. I hope you do get it (and that it's working) before sunday.

As Bossman mentioned, ask for a tracking no. Mine was sent fm. Israel on 7/20 and was in my hands before noon on July 24.

I am trying to order a sim but I cannot get the order to go through, it says declined no matter what credit card i use but there is nothing wrong with my cards. Anyone have a similar problems like this? Also, they say they accept other payment methods like moneybookers but i dont see how to pay via them. Any suggestions?

I was wrong : the SIM card arrived yesterday, shipped from Israel on 07/27... I will be travelling with Yackie Mobile!

I made a few tests : incoming and outgoing calls are working with an excellent quality on all the 3 french networks. The callback generally comes in 3/5 seconds. Incoming calls get a prompt in french and the phone often starts ringing before the end of the prompt. (VM and all prompts are in french - probably because I got a french number... B) )

I'll be testing it more intensively in Czech Republic and Slovenia in the next 10 days.

For the moment, like many others, I don't have VM notification. It also seems that outgoing SMS never go out. (Therefore I don't have the number to test incoming ones, but I almost never send SMS, and I'll receive incoming ones on my regular SIM card...)

The number I was assigned is not the one I selected, but it's not a problem as I'm going to forward calls from my regular number. And, to end up complaining, the PIN and PUK codes seem to be still in Israel...

Well, except for some minor details, everything is fine! I can call and be called during my journey : that's the most important. So far, I'm a Happy Yackie customer!

Thanks to "Cizake" and UPS... ;)

Bossman 29-07-2006 21:05

Good for ya!

I think you will be the first person in the forum that will use the yackie sim internationally (most of us have just tested it locally). I do not think it should work any different being an international sim, but you never know. So, please give us some feedback when you return. Hopefully you bought enough initial credit, since the sim can't be topped up right now. Have a safe trip!

Is the outgoing SMS working for you bossman? I want to buy one but the SMS working correctly is very important for me.

Bossman 29-07-2006 22:48

Yes. It is. I mentioned it in my review above too.

Money69

I have the same problem. I called a few days ago on Tues after I was "declined" and spoke with CS guy who took my email address & said he'd get back to me. When I didn't hear for a couple of days, I called again and he said they're having terrible problems with the website and that there are many with the same problem. They're hoping to have it fixed "soon", and plan to email those who've called as soon as it is.

I'm impatient, as I leave 23 Aug on long trip, and want it in my phone (which Mike aka Snidely "gave me" ) before I leave. So, you should call them and register your email with them so you get notified.

I'm a tad curious if anyone has tested his Yackie SIM in any satphones yet?

Bossman 30-07-2006 22:32

Regarding problem with outgoing SMS, you may want to verify that your service center # is correct. This is what I have: +97254120301.

AFAIR Cizake once said that there's no satellite coverage in Yackie and "Satellite Communication B" in http://www.yackiemobile.com/main/coverage/?part=RS is just a mistake

35 days and still waiting for my Yackie card ... :censored:

Bossman 04-08-2006 09:30

Did you email Cizake as mentioned above? If so, what was his response, did he give a tracking # or so? Seems like he has been able to help most people here with getting their sims...even though most still have one issue or another regarding the sims functionality.

With 35 days gone and no sim, it sure seems like something is wrong. See what Cizake can do for you.

He finally replied to me this morning. It should be in today or Monday. Thanks for your suggestion. Now I just wonder if I got the number I requested.

Bossman 04-08-2006 14:56

Good to know...

Without contacting him, I do not think any of us would have received anything. If you do not get the # you selected, I would not woorry about it for now. Just make sure you test the number you received that it's working as expected . There are still some issues with mine, such as non-notification of voice mail messages, etc.

Also, I do not know anyone with the sim that has been able to topup, check their credit/call logs, etc. These can only be done online, and that is not functional yet. I plan on using the sim on a trip next month, so hopefully that's all ironed out. If not, I can always fallback on my UM sim anyway.

KarenM 07-08-2006 16:03

Well, I'm close to giving up and going ahead with a UM card and CBW. I still can't make my charge go through on the website, and want a functioning phone which I know how to operate before I leave on 23 August. Too bad, as I really wanted to go with this card.

Karen

Bossman 07-08-2006 22:17

KarenM, You may want to try contacting Cizake to see if he can do anything.

Jibku 08-08-2006 15:12

Dober dan!

I'm back from my trip and will make you a report...

Yackie worked without any problem, for incoming as well as outgoing calls, and with great sound quality, on all the networks I could test :
- Orange Fr, SFR, Bouygues Telecom in France,
- Eurotel Cz, T-Mobile Cz, Vodafone Cz in Czech Republic,
- Wind, TIM, Vodafone It in Italy,
- T-Mobile Hr, VIP Hr in Croatia,
- Vodafone Si, Mobitel in Slovenia.

Outgoing SMS actually go out - but not to all operators. It works to Orange Sk, Wind and CallKey, but it doesn't to Orange Fr, SFR, Bouygues Telecom, NRJ Mobile, Eurotel Sk, Era GSM, United Mobile. (It would be interesting to test it to other operators, but these are my only available numbers...)

Voice Mail notification is now working, as well as for missed calls. You get the number of the person who left you the last message and the total number of new messages. Caller ID doesn't work on any of the network I tested.

Cizake sent me a temporary access to check my account. Phone messages are listed on that site, but listenig doesn't seem to work. (He also offered me 10$ for shippment delay. Quite fair...)

Except for the problem with outgoing SMS, everything is forking fine. I was previously using United Mobile and CallKey and had to give foreign numbers for people to call me, while with Yackie, I just forward calls from my regular number.

Well, I'm fully satisfied with Yackie!

money69 08-08-2006 15:36

I ordered also and am waiting on my sim, i contacted Czake via PM on here but dont have a response yet, Ill post a report about delivery time when I receieve it.

Bossman 08-08-2006 16:02

Good feedback Jibku. It's good to know that it mostly worked well for you.

VM notification is now working for me too. I noticed that yesterday. Missed calls notification has always worked for me. Yep! The number of the caller is in the text and the total# of messages. Yes, no called ID for me too...no biggy since the missed call and VM alerts includes it. It would be nice to know who is calling though so that one can decide either to pick up or not. :-)

Cizake gave me a temporary account access too. He did mention that the call charges are completely inaccurate...And they are trully so. Yes, listening to the messages online is not working yet. So far so good...

Is that a special website or on the yackiemobile as well?
I noticed the look of the login section changed from yesterday to today but still no login possible.

My girlfriend is using the Yackie card in the US at the moment and is also very content with the usage till now. SMS are very fast and voice quality is ok (not crystal clear but goof VoIP standard i'd say).

In germany the card worked well too.

Chris

Moxie990 08-08-2006 16:12

if ordered say today or tomorrow, do you think i would be able to recieve the SIM in time for a huge trip im leaving for on Aug 26th? I will be gone for 3.5 months, and going to several different countries, so once back i could give some really good info about where it works and doesnt work. Just wondering if its too risky to try to buy it now, as ive seen some people waiting nearly a month and others only several days.

KarenM 08-08-2006 16:57

How do I contact Cizake? I've only called their support line and gotten a guy whose name I don't recall.

Karen

KarenM 08-08-2006 16:59

P.S. Moxie, I'm right with you. I leave 23 Aug for a 3 month trip, and so want the damn card, but fear not having it before I leave.

Karen

KarenM 08-08-2006 17:27

Nevermind. I found it and emailed him. We'll see if he responds.

The email for Cizake is: f.seroussi@yackie.com

Karen

Bossman 08-08-2006 19:23

Karen & Moxie990,

I think Cizake will be able to tell you if you can get the card before your expected travel dates.

dg7feq, it's a different site. Yackie Login

Moxie990 09-08-2006 13:38

hmm, so i was on the Yackie site, and why the hell are they charging me 36 bucks for a so called "free number"???? It says right on the site, pick your free number, then it says to get a US based # I owe 36 bucks. Ok, the 49 was high enough, but now 36 more just for the number? thats rediculous, especially when advertised that its free

Is something wrong with their site and its adding the cost of what it would be to buy an additional number? Or are they just blatently lying about gettin a free number?

Bossman 09-08-2006 14:04

Yep! All the numbers now have some cost associated with them. I checked US numbers, which are $36, and UK numbers are $45. I know there will be a fee to add an additional number to the sim, but did not read anywhere about a fee for the initial number. You are correct...the site still says "add a free number". I'd suggest you give it some time or contact Cizake to verify if they have started to charge for these numbers now. If it holds true, that pushes the startup cost of the sim (without any credit) to $85.

Moxie990 09-08-2006 16:24

Ok, just so everyone knows, I spent a good deal of time talking with their online tech department. The reason for this charge, is they have changed their policies and are now charging for users to select a specific number. If you choose the free option, they pick whichever number (in the specific area that you defined) they can get the cheapest.

Also, for shipping, they said they are shipping out SIMs this week, so everyone that ordered one and is waiting should get it soon.

Bossman 09-08-2006 16:41

I just tried again. One can still choose a free number for US, UK, and France. Then one can also add an additional number, in which case a fee will apply. A fee will also apply if one, instead of opting for the free(US, UK, France) number option, chooses another country's number ,or specific number from any of the free number countries as posted above.
