I was refering to 3GSM-nets in general. Very few of these nets have fees for incomming calls. I know only of the nets in two countries, Canada and USA, but there are perhaps more.

Yes, that seems to be the matter for Lycamobile US. I was mainly stating that 3GSM-nets very seldom charge for incomming calls, but some international prepaids differ in that sense.

I ordered one two weeks ago and haven't received it. What is it running? I just checked their inbound rates while roaming and the free has disappeared. $1.84 inbound in Canada.

For international use one would probably really need to use it in the countries
that it does have good rates. On the other hand, it never hurts to have an
extra SIM to use when others fail. Of course, if they all fail your're hosed.

I think it is more incompetence [see free SIM address snafu]than evil intentions.

I agree. I'm actually thinking about Lyca at a second house we are building for its prepaid data for one purpose only. We are going to have home monitoring system -- alarm, thermostat, etc. It will need an internet connection to report back, but won't need much data. six cents a meg seems perfect for something like that.

Well, as long as they don't charge for data in some wierd way that would really disadvantage such a low data usage!

You should be good with it as long as the thermostat is not one of the new Honeywell WiFi ones. I've got one, love it, but it's a chatterbox. It keeps talking to mother ship all the time.
