My +423 balance went to zero when I switched to +44 a couple of years ago. Now I just logged into my UM account. My +44 balance is as I expected it but I see the balance on +423 at EU610!!!
Their activity log does not indicate when the balance was increased but it wasn't there when I last logged in about a month ago. Anyone else get such a New Years's gift from UM? Now if I can only find my old +423 SIM :D |

False alarm! It was indeed too good to be true.
I found the old +423 SIM. While my online balance continues to show EUR610, a call to 089 responded that my balance is now -17¢ :( |
Update. I just checked my balance again. The EUR610 is gone, replaced by a negative US$0.42 balance.
Their explanation? According to the Recent activities log... Quote:

Evidently when UM talk about "added value" they mean to their bottom line, not ours :(

Is the .19 a charge for incoming or not? IF one looks at the rate tables on the website, it shows .19 for OUTGOING only, and that incoming calls are FREE, no asterisk.

Read it and weep!
From the bottom of their RATES page
"* Call set up rate for all calls (one time) EUR 0.19" United Mobile - Rates & Coverage - Low rates for calls and internet worldwide. What don't you understand about "all calls" ================================================== = Off topic RANT: On Jan 11, 2009 the US weekly "Newsweek" ran an COVER article Pressroom : COVER RELEASE: WHAT WOULD DICK DO? about torture in which they write: "Dealing with the issue of torture will also be complicated." I wrote to them in part citing the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 5: "Article 5. No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment." I asked what could be complicated about the words "No one"? Revolting and disgusting! Stan |

I DO see the comment, but if I make a request for information about say GERMANY to FRANCE call rates, the table comes up and it says that the .19 if OUTGOING calls only.
Here is a snapshot of that type of content. |
That is indeed misleading. Would be helpful to notify them to let their webmaster make some changes.

Agreed

PERSONALLY, I believe honesty IS the best policy. I would HOPE the error of omission was just an oversight rather than intentionally misleading information. At the latest when the customer checks his/her transaction history online or makes a balance request, he/she will discover the "error". |
