There is a way to distinguish which network a number is on, it is currently limited to certain areas and we will be looking into how to implement this process in which to bring rates down. The situation is simply this: based on switch identifiers we can only tell where a call is coming from.. Now IF (andy) these are incorrect as some have been it has made rates go up, hence why we had to blend 2 months worth of call data to create the prices for USA - carribean and India, this however is accompanied by the apparent "MTC charge" termination.

In time when it is feasbile to find out where calls are coming from in the US there will be state tax applied, this is also something i find stupid but again as a MVNO i am not in the position to do anything apart from advise and bargain with manx and callkey in this situation.

If you require any more information i would be glad to assist and also find out if i dont already know.

Yours
Travis

On my O2 UK online billing, I can see after the event which network the phone was registered on when a roaming call was made or received, so it surprising that you suggest that Manx (which is owned by O2) cannot do this, or that you have some control over it.

Roaming call charges have been high in USA and India for years and for all networks, whichever network the phone was roaming on. Is it likely that better information about the roamed network or state would have any significant overall influence on tariffs? And are some of these amongst those you are suggesting have been sending back false data to make more money? Surely the tariff is advertised and the call times will be correct?

I was wondering about the same.
On my german Vodafone online check i also see the name of the network in roaming nearly at once. And call charges are nearly billed realtime (SMS arrive on the list with quite some delay though)....

Stan, our friend Travis has confused the issue by assuming trading names that were already in use. I suspect you are talking about the German company Globalsim.

True, globalsim Germany.

Did I post this to the wrong thread? Sorry, chief.

Don't apologise for the fact that the OP chose a confusing company name; he himself posted on a thread about the other one.
