My last incoming call.

to my Riing card was received on Nov. 26 in Czech Republic . The call was from Israel. I checked either that a call from Israel to UM roaming in Israel worked. Now I cannot call +423 663 from my land line.
May be Dec. 1 was a "magic" date when the bankrupcy took place officially and Liechteinstein mobile operator blocked all these numbers ?

Funny how this thread seems to continue as not only is um dead. The number might still work but calling the numbers has always been very difficult the last years. Seems to get more difficult now also and prices to call the number and a lot higher than calling a +44 mobile number.

also reamins that there are expensive paid numbers in the same range which will not change. I think I have mentioned this several times so you could forget about the +423 number

I just called my +423 number, and all I get is a "busy" sugnal...

Does that mean, it's about time to keep the SIM card in a drawer...? If not to throw it away...?

Happy new Year all (ex) United-Mobile Customers,

Area code +423-663 seems to be blocked by many carriers now, e.g. for "security reasons" or an announcement tells you, that the subscriber is not available, but some phones show simultaneously "call not allowed" or similar messages on their displays.

UM SIM card is still registering with (minium) one local network, but this gives you nothing, as Short Messages (Texts) do not work incoming or outcoming and calls wouldn't go in or go out.

Official information is not available at this thime, but rumours tell me, that former proprietors/managers/players still playing sandbox games between each others.

Meanwhile the customers are gone, the business modell is gone, we've discussed this many times here and elsewhere.

Take the UM-SIM-Card and tape it to a picture frame on your living room wall and remember the better days of roaming sim-cards. As long as the SIM card registers to a network, there is a 1% chance they will come back one day, one year, or never.

UM had too many ideas and projects and forgot to care the existing customers and attract and serve new ones. Too many people wanted to increase money, without offering attractive goods or services behind it. We remember its called world economical crisis, am I right?

No doubt your right on this prediction. For those with UM SIM cards still the links on the following message seem to still work. Some are better for UK people and other for USA folk. Others?? You will have to read the fine print and see how you do. ALSO, you might want to check to see if the offers are still available.

I am in the USA and did the OneSIMcard one and am happy with it. Used it on a Rhine cruise in December from Basel to Amsterdam.

Hello again,

very bad news. Most of the me known UM423 SIM Cards announce "SIM registration failed" if you try to log on to any network. Some SIM Cards still register, but you cannot receive or make any calls, as the access to +423 663 is blocked.

RIP UM.
I will fix it on the wall due to nostalgic reasons.

Is this really a surprise? The cropse has totally rotted through and through by now.

Matha

Of course: No surprise at all.

But I'm a little bit nostalgic. Having a Liechtenstein number was very exotic in these days :-)

united mobile is dead, but...

Dear prepaidgsm friends,

it's a while since someone did a posting on this thread. I am working for a small hotel chain in Switzerland and we did suggest our clients (busoperators etc.) to buy a united mobile SIM for their tour guide's when staying at lake constance because you have three countries just around the corner.

With this in mind I did contact mobilkom.li today to ask if there is any news on the sim cards that I can communicate to our clients when returning to Switzerland during summer.

I have been put through to a very kind gentleman that told me, that the united mobile SIM cards are definately gone, since no one is allowed to use them any more, also the balance is gone for everyone. The more interresting part has been, that he told me, mobilkom is readying the platform for a new product that will be launched in may this year.

He did also ask me to send him my contact details as they would be very happy to have people testing the new product befor launch. He told me that the product will be ready for the market and widley spread before the summer travel season.

This is good news and I hope that I can keep you updated once I have more details about this.

BK

Sounds interesting but that said it all depends on the number range they are using for the new product.

Problem with the UM number range was that callings those number was getting so expensive and some providers even blocked calling these numbers. if that situation doesn't change I doubt that a new launch will be very succesfull.

Same problem with estonian phonenumber they are also difficult to call or expensive through voip. The Uk number still seems to be the cheapest soultion when calling these numbers and for business use when you want to give your mobile number an Uk number still looks better than a estonian or lichtenstein number
