GSM and 3G Operators
IMPORTANT: Russia is a huge country and there are just 3 operators with a
nationwide coverage: MTS, Megafon and Vimpelcom (Beeline). Plus Tele2 is trying to build a 4th
nationwide operator, but it's currently mainly available in the Leningrad and Black Sea regions.
Tariffs change from region to region and it's impossible to list them all. Most of the information
on the official websites is in Russian only and all tariffs can be both prepaid and postpaid, making
it even more long and complicated to list them all. Here we listed only the offers with no monthly fees.
Till 2006 we used to list all prepaid tariffs of Moscow and St.Petersburg (Leningrad) regions, plus some
other regions such as Kaliningrad and Novgorod ones. Since it's too long, now we try to list Moscow and
sometimes St.Petersburg only. Consider that Moscow rates are usually the highest, so any other region
will have the same tariffs but with cheaper rates.
